20 week scan complication

'Complication' is a bit extreme but I don't know what else to call it! I had my 20 week scan yesterday and the sonographer couldn't get one of the measurements of my little boy's head because he's a little squashed between the placenta and a contraction of the uterus. She doesn't reckon it's anything at all to worry about but we are going back next week as she obviously doesn't want to just leave it.

I have two questions: One, is how long the contraction hangs around for? She said that the uterus keeps contracting and relaxing throughout the pregnancy, so I was just wondering whether the same spot could still be contracted in a weeks time?

And also, is there any way to encourage him to move?! Obviously he's doing his own thing in there but would star jumps help?! I'm joking but you know what I mean!

I've been told a sugary soft drink before your scan will get him moving, or a glass of cold water or a coffee (if you usually drink it during pregnancy) I haven't tried any of these methods yet as my scan isn't for three weeks.
As for the contractions I don't know about them, hopefully someone who does will be along soon :)

i had some coke and she was off like a shot i mean literally the person doing the scan had the other problem of she wouldn't stay still for the measurements.

hello, I had my 20 week scan last friday and my little monkey wasn't giving a clear view of the base of his spine and she said if he wouldn't show it then I'd have to go back.

She got me to get off the table and jump around the room like a bunny. Oh very dignified I'm sure - it did move him though!

Hot chocolate worked for me to get my little one thrashing around!

Sonographer tried for half an hour to get a head measurement and the stubborn thing wouldn't move its head from where it was lodged. I was given ice cubes to crunch and sure enough, they had the opposite problem! Mad bouncing within minutes.
