For those of you who have used the CB Digital pregnancy test....

When did yours go from saying 1-2 weeks to 2-3 weeks.

Have tested on the day my period is due and it says I am pregnant 1-2 weeks. Yay! However, I have another test and I KNOW i am not going to be able to resist POAS to see when the indicator changes. Have had previous miscarriages and am soooooo nervous....

Any experiences welcome!

Hi. Firstly congrats! Secondly, i'm no expert but i've seen loads where people worry themselves to death as the cb test seems to start going the wrong way making people think there is something wrong. Think its something to do with past a certain point your hormone level starts to level out meaning the test might stay at the same reading or go backwards. Please dont do it! There are loads of posts on here about the cb digital test going the wrong way!

I second feekerry please don't do it! I've seen so many threads where people worry themselves sick over nothing. You're pregnant, leave it at that. Congratulations!

I found it had gone up a week after the initial test, and again the next week. Remember it doesn't go beyond 3+, so don't keep using it. I have also had rmc, in one pg I knew it wasn't working as the levels didn't increase in ten days, and in another pg the reading actually went down. But it's a rough approach, getting your HCG levels tested by GP would be much more accurate. (Good luck)

These tests are evil. People think that they show you that the pregnancy is going ok. They don't. Spend the money on something nice and step away from the sticks.
I have used them myself as I am shit at taking my own advice. last pg they went up as normal. Then I had a missed miscarriage. Clearblue did not give me any advance warning of that.

This pregnancy I had one that went to 3+ and then shock horror, back down to 2-3. I was beside myself. But I have had my 12 week scan this morning :)

If you are sure you want to do another, wait until you are definitely at least four and a half weeks. Or do one seven days from your last test. Do not do them daily to see which day of the week the indicator goes up. This is an evil ploy from the manufacturer to encourage you to spend a hundred pounds on sticks to piss on.

Hrm... this may strike some people as a bit unscrupulous but if you tell your GP you've had some spotting, they'll probably send you to an early pregnancy clinic. Hey presto, HCG testing and scans till they see a heartbeat in the right place.

Wrong, not just unscrupulous.
while you are taking up their time some woman who is actually miscarrying can't be fitted in for a scan. If you are not bleeding and do not have pain, please do not waste the time of the EPU.
The op hasn't even had a problem yet. It is not like she knows she is 6 weeks and the indicator still says 1-2. then I would also recommend she goes to get medical advice. but a 1-2 on the day you are due is perfectly normal and I am sure if she tries again in a few days it will go up.
The NHS is stretched enough as it is without people lying to get treatment they don't need.

If you have had two or more previous miscarriages, most EPAUs will be more than happy to see you for a reassurance scan at 8+ weeks, with a referral from a gp or midwife. Even if you are not bleeding. If you ask you are likely to get this, especially if you explain that you are feeling very anxious.

My GP will do HCG tests, no need to go through EPU except for scans.
The plan with the 8 week scan I think is that you'll just have miscarried quietly at home before then.
I don't think you can underestimate what it feels like to be pg again after mc, AND there is some evidence that tlc of women in early pg can actually improve pg outcomes. So, why not get whatever support you can.

But if you do miscarry before then there is nothing a scan can do. A scan does not prevent miscarriage. A scan at 8 weeks is to reassure you that your pregnancy has a good chance, or to detect a mmc earlier.
I am pregnant again after two miscarriages. I know what it is like. I have had a lot of support from the health profession and yes it can improve outcomes. But no need to lie about it. Try getting the support the right way first.

Agree with Kat. Scans wont change the outcome, and lying pushes people with genuine need into later appointments. I think you have to do some positive thinking Hoping, chances are you will have a lovely sticky bean and no probs. The clearblues are known to stress people out unnecessarily. *And they will cost you a bloody fortune in the mean time. The other option is that you pay for a private 7-8 week scan if you think it would reassure you. These cost about £90. Also make sure you are taking good care of yourself, ie no smoking, plenty of good food and rest.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.

I've decided to bin my remaining test and wait for an appnt with my gyneacologist this week. I have a bent fallopian tube (puts me at risk of ectopic) so have to have early bloods and scans taken anyway to make sure bean is in right place.

Still, every day (or should I say every hr) feels interminable until then.

But positive thinking, positive thinking, positive thinking.....

Good luck with your appointment. Given your risk of ectopic your gynae should surely agree to a 6 week scan. There's nothing you can do in the meantime, it would be invisible on a scan at this point.
I know what you mean about the waiting. It can seem like a lifetime. I hope your gynaecologist is able to give you lots of reassurance.

Why should I wait till 8 weeks to know it has gone wrong, if I can find out earlier I can have the operation and begin to move on with my life and my grief?
I think standards of mc care are pretty crap actually, hence things like the mumsnet code of practice.

It is hard to know before 8 weeks if a pregnancy has ended or if the dates are out or scan too early or whatever. A bad scan at 6 weeks would just end up having to be repeated two weeks later. For a lot of people this causes a lot of worry. Sometimes unnecessarily. Sometimes it makes it worse when you have to wait two weeks and you are pretty sure it is doomed but it hasn't reached a cut off point yet. I've been in that position before, of just waiting for a non viable heartbeat to stop.

But anyway, it sounds like the OP is going to get plenty of extra monitoring and support from her doctor.

I agree that standards can be crap and that women who have had repeat mc do need lots of extra support in a new pregnancy.
