I had one at about 6 weeks, and then another a week later to check it was growing. At the second one there was a heartbeat, so that was my last scan until 20 weeks.
It may vary from trust to trust and according to your personal situation though.

i had a scan at 5 weeks because they thought i had an ectopic pregnancy, then they thought i had a co existing (quite rare) ectopic pregnancy as i had an abnormality on my ovary so they did a repeat scan at 6 weeks and then at 10 weeks to check all was ok. they bought my 20 week scan forward a few weeks to do a final check. guess it depends on the reason, my friend who had a 24 week miscarriage with her 2nd child was scanned every 3rd week from 10 weeks through to 24 weeks when she was pregnant the third time.

I had an early scan at 8 weeks due to spotting but did not have any further ones apart from the routine 12 week scan - as someone has already said, it will probably depend on your individual circumstances as to whether further scans will be necessary.

I had one at 6+6 and one at 9+6 with DS because I'd been having follicle tracking and because I had had lots of abdominal surgery for endometriosis and PCOS they wanted to make sure it wasn't ectopic.

Usually they want to see a heartbeat. It does vary, but once they see a heartbeat then you'll just get 12 week and 20 week scans unless there is another reason to do so (eg a fall or something).

we had an early scan at 6 weeks (internal one) we had another internal one at 8 weeks (both done privatly).I am sure both showed a slight heartbeat..? We were seen then at 10,12,14,16,18,21 weeks for scans....due to mc history our consultant & dh & I wanted the reasurrance that dd was doing well. She is now a gorgeous 7 month old. .
We also arrange for a 3d/4d scan for our own personal reasons.

Good luck. xx

I had a internal scan at 5 weeks where they couldnt see much so I was rescanned 2 weeks later. Once they saw the heartbeat no further scans are nessesary until 12 weeks.

I had an external scan at 5 weeks ish, had to have two further internal ones at 6 and 7 weeks. the first internal one was because the external scan hadn't shown a fetal pole or heartbeat. the second internal one was just to check everything was okay before I was discharged to standard antenatal care (my HCG levels hadn't increased as much as they were supposed to do, I imagine that's why they checked one more time after seeing heartbeat)
