All the things I normally avoid when pg.

Do you eat these things , or is it just me being overly overly cautious ?

What things does everyone else like that they cant eat??

I really fancy tapenade too , but its got anchovies in it!!!!! Im really wanting strong strong flavours , despite runnning to the loo every day !!!

I think they are all OK. Double check the Food Standards Agency website for info if you are unsure.

maybetwo · 17/12/2005 17:15

I always avoided them because they ar'nt cooked , only smoked or cured in salt. Is that not a problems then ????

Here's what the Food Standards Agency has to say about smoked fish;_

"Can I eat cold meats and smoked salmon when I'm pregnant?
Some countries advise pregnant women not to eat cold meats or smoked fish because of the risk of listeria. In the UK, we don't advise women to avoid these products because the risk is very low. The risk of listeria is much higher with soft mould-ripened cheeses (such as Brie and Camembert) or pâté, which you shouldn't eat during pregnancy. However, if you are concerned, you might also choose to avoid cold meats and smoked fish while you are pregnant."

I could eat all of those too - yum. I think they are now saying that all females should have no more than 2 portions of oily fish per week. I only found this out by chance when looking for lunchbox ideas.

jane313 · 17/12/2005 19:18

Are ancovies only cured then? Do you mean the tinned oily ones or the marinated ones. Thanks god I never read that when pregnant.

zippimistletoes · 17/12/2005 19:20

maybetwo · 17/12/2005 19:22
