Clicking noise from bump

I've been hearing these strange clicking noises that seem to be coming from my bump! Not very often, probably twice a day but is freaking me out. Anyone any ideas? I'm nearly 28 weeks.

YES! it's the baby's hand/fingers coming out of it's mouth!

My doctor/midwife didn't believe me, and I started to doubt myself until I googled it... my baby came out with it's fingers sucked dry! :-)

Seriously? Can you hear that through the amniotic fluid? That's amazing!

I thought maybe your baby was VERY advanced and had already learned to click its fingers!

Yes, isn't it! Must be quite a suction they've got in there. You should try to record it as people still don't believe me!

I had that too! Midwife thought I was a crazy woman but I definitely heard clicking noises (as did my dh occasionally). Never worked out what it was but all was/is well. Good luck

I think you have a dolphin in there - and it's trying to communicate.

Or sheflies is right Grin.

There's probably a thread a month on this. Nobody has ever adequately explained what it is, but lots of people experience it. So it's normal but strange. Grin

I get that, someone on my ante natal thread had mentioned it so it didn't freak me out, but nobody had offered a sensible suggestion until Sheflies Most bizarre but apparently normal!

I had this from about 18 weeks but worked out it was actually my pelvic bones grinding together- got diagnosed with SPD 2 weeks later! Ouch. Different thing!
I asked my friend about it (she just had her baby) and she was told by the midwife it's the baby's joints clicking, like when you stretch an elbow or something, as the relaxin hormone affects the baby's joints as well as yours and makes them looser and more prone to click. Maybe.

I had this with DD, it really does sound like bones clicking. I thought it was me at first but realised I wasn't moving when it occurred. Nothing wrong with DDs joints after birth.

Current bump started to click at 31 wks, bout same time as hiccups started. I'm 34 weeks now.
