Scan Photos - What did you pay?

Having just read on a thread that one lady paid £10 for two photos, I'm wondering what other people have paid.

I remember paying a 'contribution' 7 years ago, £1.00 was advised. Surely it hasnt gone up that much?

I have plenty of RL friends I could ask, but that would out my pregnancy and I'm not quite ready for that just yet, so am doing a straw poll instead. :)

Is it something that varies from region-to region?

£5 for 2 ... But when the lady heard there were 3 dc and DH at home looking forward to seeing the photo, she slipped another two in the envelope without charging me more. That was nice Smile

LoveInAColdClimate · 27/09/2011 15:57

I just assumed £6 was normal until reading this thread! Oh well.

smellimelli · 27/09/2011 17:00

Blimey, we paid £6.50 last year and have been told in a letter for our 12 week scan that it is £6.50 again and MUST be the correct change!!

LittleWhiteWolf · 27/09/2011 17:06

In Oxfordshire we paid £3.50 for 1 scan photo at our recent 12 week scan. They also advertise £10 for 3, which I think will be more likely what will happen at the 20 week scan.

We paid nothing for our 12 week scan for DD back in Dec 2008, but the sonographer didn't want to charge us as she didn't think it was a good photo (back of DD while she slept. She looked like a peanut!) We'd happily have paid for a dodgy blur though!

ChunkyPickle · 27/09/2011 17:11

Nothing here.

Then I had a scan when abroad, and paid $35USD for 3D scan, and the nurse chased us out and gave us a DVD with it on too....

I think those private scanning places must be making money hand over fist.

DaveyStott · 27/09/2011 17:12

We're in Dudley, and they charge £3 for each photo. You have to have the correct change to buy stamps to give to the sonographer. Except that we got 2x 12 week photos free, because I let a trainee sonographer have a play on my belly Grin

goodname · 27/09/2011 17:32

£1 per photo (Scotland)

MixedBerries · 27/09/2011 17:40

North Wales here. We had to pay £3 per photo back in April and it had to be correct change for the machine. No change, no photo. At least we get the car parking and prescriptions free up here (for now) so I'm not going to complain.

OvO · 27/09/2011 17:51

I've had 32 pregnancy scans and never had to pay (though now I'm thinking about it probably only got pics at half). There were donation boxes but we were always told not to bother (though we often did put something in).

MooseCakey · 27/09/2011 17:55

We paid £3 for a token which gets you 2 photos at our 12 week scan in Kingston although the lady doing the scan printed out 4 and gave them all to us.

Zay04 · 27/09/2011 18:08

I had to pay £10 for one, was very shocked when they told me how much but the scan pic was very clear so I think I got my moneys worth : )

MabliD · 27/09/2011 18:18

£5 per photo in Mid Wales, though I think we got two for that at the anamoly scan as baby is a poser and the sonographer was kind :). I got two photos for free at my 8 week reassurance scan though - she looked like a jellybaby :o

Oeisha · 27/09/2011 18:28

£3 (again in change) but we did get 4 pics each time....Derbyshire based, but I think we buy into the Stockport PCT maternity services.

melliebobs · 27/09/2011 19:50

£2.50 each when I had my dating scan at beginning of august. But there were signs up saying as of 1st September it would be increasing to £4 a photo Angry

JambalayaCodfishPie · 27/09/2011 20:26

Hmmm, thanks all.

I think I'll have to take £10.00 (in change!) just to be on the safe side!!

:)

I don't know why they don't include this info with the scan appointment letter Confused

babydust27 · 28/09/2011 06:44

£1 each in nottingham

deemented · 28/09/2011 06:51

£3 per photo, correct change only. Am in Wales.

ALotToTakeIn · 28/09/2011 09:05

In winchester, Hampshire it is 6 pounds for 3 or 4 depending on the shots they get.

gabity · 28/09/2011 09:10

In total we had about 20 different scans, pics each time and no mention of it costing anything! First time I have ever heard of anyone paying for a NHS scan pic Shock (Glasgow btw)

WeLoveHaribo · 28/09/2011 10:06

£4 each pic (west lancs) but sometimes the very kind ladies just give them you :)

Youremindmeofthebabe · 28/09/2011 10:16

£5 and got around 5 or 6 photos at 20 week scan. 12 week ones were free, but that may have been because she felt sorry for the blubbering wreck that was me.

SjuperWolef · 28/09/2011 10:21

£1 per pic with dd 7 years ago and again now although my 20 week scan photo from this pregnancy, the sonographer wasnt happy with it as it wasnt one hundred % clear so we got just one copy and it was free.

Purplebuns · 28/09/2011 10:22

Honesty box £2 recommendation, although didn't say whether that was for one photo or more. We got three photos and put in about £3 and Sonographer just said thank you.

Crosshair · 28/09/2011 10:58

£5 for a ticket - 5 photo's.

12 week scan was free - 1 photo.
