Can you develop SPD in 3rd pregnancy ??

Hi all,

24 weeks preggers with number 3.
Little ones are aged 5 and aged 2.
Pain started last week between legs and I first thought I'd overdone the dog walking or pulled a a muscle but pain getting worse not better.
Other 2 pregnancies were fine so not sure it would be SPD or can it just occur suddenly.
Anyone else out there having this??

1st Pregnancy no SPD
2nd Pregnancy severe ended up on crutches SPD started at 13 weeks
3rd Pregnancy SPD started at 9 weeks managed it better so stayed moderate throughout
4th Pregnancy (11 weeks in) and it started at 8 weeks this time hoping to again manage it.

So yes it can occur, The Pelvic Partnership have an advice line and good info website,get referred to a phsio and check out the other posts on here as there are lots of tips!

Firstly huge congratulations! Yes, im sorry to say you can..... my first two pregnancies no sign of it at all, then baby number 3 i had it awfully!!! Baby number 4 i only had it mildly thank god.

I recommend to all of my clients to go and see your GP as they can refer you to see a physio who can give you gentle stretches, exercises and positions to help a little. (Believe it or not movement is the best way to help relieve the discomfort). Doing gently squats after a warm bath is another tip, along with sleeping on your side with a couple of pillows between your legs. Your GP or Physio therapist can also get you a support belt to wear - this lifts up your bump and reduces the ammount of pressure put upon your pelvis and groin.

I hope this helps somewhat and i hope you are able to find something to reduce your discomfort.

Thanks all, have booked a midwife appointment for Friday so will try and get more help and info, definifetly worse today, I won't be walking by Friday at this rate. lol.

Nothing with dc's 1 & 2 (although they are 22 & 20!), a bit at the end with dd (she's 5) and this time it's been hell. I'll be 27 wks tomorrow, I'm on crutches, taking cocodamol and signed off work for two weeks.........

Yes my DCs were 5 and 3 when I got it with third pregnancy at about 18 weeks. Had never had it before. It's painful and annoying.

Tried to do more sitting down things with little ones and not pick anyone up. Actually went away by third trimester even though I would sometimes get pains in my pubic bone - better than barely being able to walk and going up stairs sideways though.

Mine seemed to be a warning to slow down and not bounce around like it was my first pregnancy.
