Reduced movement - but the hospital says I'm fine - is he getting ready?

Hello everyone!
I had reduced movement and I went to hospital to get monitored this morning, they said it was all fine - which is great! I'm still not getting many movements and its been suggested that maybe he is resting before he makes an appearance ?

Has anyone else had quiet before the storm?

yes, I definitely did with both my pregnancies - in fact with my 1st, I went to hospital for monitoring one evening. The next night I gave birth! Same with my 2nd, her movements seemed to slow for 24hrs, went into labour the night after monitoring.
Of course, baby could have just moved position - went in for monitoring at 33wks with this baby, all was fine (I'd only had a growth scan that morning). Hooked up to machine & she started kicking away. Midwife confirmed her position, and it was totally different to the position she'd been in at the scan, hence probably explaining why I was feeling less mvmt. No sign of her yet, & nearly 36wks now. They're little pickles these babies, nothing but worry (worth it all in the end tho!!)

Same here. With twopregnancies. Spookily quiet about 24 hours or less before labour started. Went to hospital both times and babies started moving as soon as the machine was hooked up, typically. How many weeks are you?

I would be careful about assuming reduced movements mean all is okay and the baby is about to be born. My son nearly died because if a midwife saying he was fine when he wasn't after I had gone to hospital due to no movements.

ANY change in movements needs to be checked out.

I posted a thread earlier, baby is less active today.
I'm 39+3 I'm hoping I'm not far of labour Smile

Do you know about count the kicks campaign?

this thread is also about reduced movement. I am one of the posters on it whose child survived. It isn't normal to have reduced movements towards the end although happily it often works out fine. Keep on getting checked if you are worried. Did your movements get monitored or was it just a doppler?

cherryjellybelly · 14/09/2011 21:39

lolly you should probably get checked! better to be safe :)

I'm due tomorrow and I had a full monitoring and a doppler, it was reassuring and the midwifes were lovely. Hes decided tonight to be very active again! relief!

Hopefully I'll be like you ladies and he'll decide to turn up anytime now :o
