Can a community midwife sign you off sick?

Can she, or do you need to see a gp? Gp apt stupidly hard to get!

i think its only a gp as ive been told to go to my gp for a sick note by my midwife

My CMW signed me off by phoning the dr for me and getting them to draw up the sick note - all I had to do was collect it.

Seen my cmw - no GP appointments until Monday (not even emergency!) and she can't sign me off but is happy to recommend GP does and has arranged for me to pick up sick note up tomorrow.
