Had my 48hr apart hcg test results back today, all they said on notes was " a little higher". Is it ok to just go a little higher or should I have doubled in 48hrs, or can it also take another day to sometimes surge? Ive got a thread on conception with a little more of whats happening, but Im all out of sorts this evening and the doctor spoke to me this evening as if I was an annoyance, saying "will your still pregnant & you have a scan on friday , theres not much more we can do" . Thats NOT THE EFFIN POINT , I just wanted reassurance that Im still viable .They have no care of how women feel in these situtations.

Well, essentially he is right, but i know thats of no help to you at all.

I really do feel for you. Its bad enough in the first few weeks when you have nothing to show for it until your scan without the worries you have had.

I hope it works out for you

I think their hands are tied really .. what else can he do .. he can reassure you everything's ok but he doesn't know and won't till friday

I'm sorry .. so much of this conception and pregnancy establishment is a dreadfully angst-ridden waiting game

wish you luck and a little peace between now and friday

I only went 30% higher in the 48 hours, and everything turned out OK. I did some digging around on internet and found some info that suggested that there were a minority of healthy PGs where HCG levels didn't double in 48 hours. (something like 15%).

I suppose I know he couldnt give me anything else , as he said Friday will be more conclusive, but its just that niggling anxious feeling.

it depends on how far on you are...early on they would expect it to double every 2.5 to 3 days but later on (after 6-7 weeks say) it can slow down somewhat.

For instance, my first was 85,000 and my second 101,000 at 7+ weeks.

HTH and good luck xx
