Have a look at the kellymom website if you're worried, it's got lots of good, reassuring info.
Personally, I found bf incredibly uncomfortable during the first few weeks, and it used to really irritate me too... but I gritted my teeth and kept going, determined for DS to wean when he is ready. At about 12 weeks I did end up telling him that there is no boobies at night (I used to just plug him in and go back to sleep but with the nips feeling like they were being chewed on there was no way I could sleep through it...) which he, amazingly, accepted after a couple of nights. (The week after, at 21 months, he suddely started SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!)
I'm now 20 weeks and my milk has actually dried out. He still has a "bf" at night before he goes to sleep, god knows why. The other night I asked him if he actually got any milk, he replied yes. I asked him what it tasted like and he looked at me as if I'm dumb and said "like mama's boobs". :D
(Also, hello to MFM, I keep meaning to pop over to the thread!)
