I've got 3 weeks 4 days left of what has been a fairly horrific pregnancy. After getting my c section date on thurs I felt really positive but now I'm getting really bad reflux/heartburn
It's horrible. It's the only 'symptom' I've never had before. Please can someone give me some advise on how to cope. Gaviscon makes me puke, rennies give Me an upset tummy. :(

Ice lollies or Starburst and a glass of water seem to work for me :-)

shelleylou · 03/09/2011 22:14

milk or peppermint soft mints work for me

katefirsttimer · 03/09/2011 22:30

gaviscon - works quickly

fannybaws · 03/09/2011 22:40

lovehearts lots of them

DirtyBit · 03/09/2011 23:00

Try Ranitidine tablets, you can get them from chemist/supermarket or on prescription. They were the only thing that helped me, I only discovered them a few weeks before I had DD but I will know for next time :)

Drinking milk sorts mine out.

Thanks everyone. Will try some of the above.

Milk with ice really helped me.

I've had a horrible, hacking cough which the doc thinks is caused by acid reflux irritating my throat. He's prescribed me one a day of Omeprazole 20mg gastro-resistant capsules. They have stopped the heartburn completely. Cough still dragging on though.

another vote for love hearts

similar stuff to rennies but actually taste nice

gaviscon advance (prescribed by gp,) aniseed flavour, made me puke less than peppermint flavour did

pruney1977 · 04/09/2011 10:47

plain mcflurries have been the best remedy for me but not exactly healthy. I prefer the aniseed gaviscon to the peppermint one, couldn't abide the latter!

I think I'm
Off back to the doc tomorrow! Thanks all.

i have a yoga pose i use it's a quick but temp fix...

sit on your knees with your feet flat against the floor spread your knees to about a foot apart keep your toes touching and lean back to a 30 deg angle keeping your back straight and use your finger tips to support your weight

I don't know why it works but it does just don't sit there for more than a few mins at a time
