Pregnancy junk mail after informing doctor?

I got a bfp this morning (my God! I'm pregnant!) and am going to phone the surgery next week. However, I am currently living with my parents while DP is temporarily overseas and don't want them to know until a bit further on.

In your experience, does going to the doctor mean you are instantly on some sort of pregnancy treadmill with Bounty packs flying through the letter box each morning? This is my first time and I just have no clue.

No. Your medical records are confidential - theycan't sell them and your details to people!

I got my first bounty pack at my first scan and you collect the next one from sainsburys

Ah, good thinking, potteringalong. I should have realised they can't sell medical records. I am not quite thinking normally today :)

The only letters you are likely to receive are scan or appointment letters which shouldn't be too obvious. But they may say NHS somewhere on the envelope so if your parents are at all nosy be ready with some cover story- you could say it's an invite for a smear test or something! And obviously don't fill in and send back any of the forms in the Bounty pack until you've told them.
