Heartburn :(

I was just wondering whether anyone has any good cures for severe heartburn? I'm 27 weeks pregnant and for the last couple of weeks after every meal I seem to be struck by terrible heartburn.
I think I might have to take out shares with Gaviscon if it continues much longer!! Lol.

I can feel your pain! Iv had terrible acid reflux since very early on (35+4 now). Only just got a huge bottle of the aniseed stuff from the doc but I struggle to drink it cos it's just like chalk!! Can't offer much in advice, but I know how bad it can be Sad

I had terrible heartburn in my pregnancies. Gaviscon is the only thing I found that helped. Used to glug it back with abandon. Get it on prescription from your dr for free.

Milk might help a bit too?

Sherbert dip dabs have helped a bit (I chuck the lolly when I've finished the sherbert). I also find mine is worse if I eat too much bread.

Cheap roast chicken crisps (the own brand sort that are usually a bit dull) and prolong the head of your bed up slightly.
Ours ended up with piles of Cosmo mags under the legs. Feels a bit odd sleeping on a slope, but it does work and doesn't do your neck in like lots of pilllows.

Currently awake due to heartburn and insomnia. Had bad heartburn last pregnancy, hasn't been as bad this pregnancy, but I still have the odd bad night. I also deal with people with reflux problems for work.

Eat smaller meals but more often. Avoid things that are rich, spicy or too sweet. (I'm awake because I decided to have some biscuits an hour before bed.) Yes, propping up the bed can help, (or in my case sleep on the sofa) don't eat late at night (I really should follow my own advice Hmm ). Milk can help, but sometimes dairy products can make things worse.

Also as others have said get to the GP and get the gaviscon for free. My GP prescribes peptac liquid, which is a cheaper version... I've run out, my repeat prescription is ready tomorrow.... but if it's still not working ask him if you can have Gaviscon Advanced. That's what we usually say people need at work when other things have failed.

Sherbert would be horrendous for me!

Gaviscon never worked for me, I'm due on Saturday and it's been worse than ever this week but I've found that rennie tablets work! Yep, actually work!
