Hi All,

I know that its difficult to define what is normal in this area, but I stupidly got onto the net and read all sorts of scary stuff about too much weight gain.

I am 28 weeks and have put on 10 kgs - does that sound excessive to others around the same mark? Its quite strange because i put on almost nothing in the first 20 weeks and everyone was going on about how tiny i was, now all I get is 'you are going to be HUGE!'

I've lost weight so far (20wks) and am still getting "you're big" from people....so ignore them.
As long as you're eating healthily and exercising regularly, I wouldn't worry. If you are worrying talk to your MW. This site has standardised weight gain info and links to meal plans etc. if you want to go down that route. But, again, if you're eating healthily and exercising, I wouldn't worry.

I put on 4.5 stone and really fretted about it. I've since lost it all.

try this - www.kidspot.com.au/weightgain/pregnancyweightgain.asp
it will tell you how you are shaping up, depending on your pre-pregnancy weight. I've gained 7 kilos as of 25 weeks but for me all of that was in the first 20 weeks - I made a dedicated effort to get things under control because I was gaining way too fast.

Hi Poppy

Just to let you know I have put on 10kg's also (that's about 1.5 stone) and am now 31 weeks. Dont panic too much, one of my friends put on 4 stone (25kg's), another 2 friends put on 3 stone each and they have all lost it with a bit of determination and some hard work. You've gained it and are aware of it so I'm sure you will be fine with losing it again once your little one has arrived and you are ready to get back into shape.

I'm 29 weeks and have put about that. I think about 5kg of it is my boobs Blush

Given that 25-35lbs is considered the right gain over pregnancy for a normal BMI, I can't see the issue with 10kgs (22lbs) by 28 weeks. Let's say you put on another 10lbs, you're still within the 'ideal' that likely means healthy pregnancy and healthy baby.

I was 7 stone before I became pg, and 10 stone by the due date. I was a bit scared (and immobile), but it all came off again. I think some weeks you gain more than others.
