Spider veins - getting rid of them again...

I was under the naive impression that these things would disappear after pregnancy, and being milk-bottle skinned they show up especially on me. They don't hurt/itch, etc, so it's a purely cosmetic issue. At my ANC appointment today, I thought I'd double-check that they'll disappear, and my GP said they wouldn't.

Oh man!

So, basically, having horrified myself by seeing that it can cost around £3k to go private for laser therapy, but also having noticed a comment on MN from 2006 saying it could also be done very, very cheaply by a dermatologist, my question is this:

Does anyone have any experience of what it'll cost to get rid of them? and is this likely to be lower outside of the south east of England (you know, like vets bills? ;) )?

I have to say that some of mine did disappear after having DD - so I don't know what your gp was talking about!
Also, some of the worst ones were still there, but faded, so were less noticeable.

Maybe see if some of yours improve after the birth - you may have to wait a fair few months to see an improvement though.

I read on an iphone app 'what to expect while expecting' that spider veins are hormonal, unlike varicose veins and should disappear after the birth... i hope so as I have a massive collection of them on my lower legs!
