Could I be at risk of chicken pox?

If my friend (who has a dd with chicken pox) comes round to my house tonight? She won't be bringing dd but I have never had chicken pox and am 30 weeks pg. Does anyone know if my friend could be carrying the virus and still be in the incubation period?

has she had chicken pox?

you are contagious the day before the spots come out, so if she isn't immune then technically yes

it takes up to 21 days for the pox to come out

Tell your friend you're worried about it. She may decide herself not to come round so as not to cause you stress.

Have you had chickenpox? If so, then you are immune and it doesn't matter. If she has had chickenpox as a child then she is immune and again, it wouldn't matter.

I haven't had it, not sure if she has - she is trawling the internet to find out if she is contagious but I knew you guys would be quicker

What about her having cuddled her daughter & have the pus from the spots on her clothes? Is this a risk?

no, that wouldn't be a risk. If she's not had chickenpox and you don't want to get it, maybe give the meetup a miss. If she has had it, then she's immune and you don't need to worry.
