Hello all you mumsnetters! Ive just found out that im 8 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child.
I have been on fluoxetine (prozac) for around 6 months now and have been advised that I should not come off of these because of my bad depression that i suffer with.
Iam on these because 3 years ago I lost my first child to group b strep aged four days old.
I have gone on to have a healthy boy who is now a lively 21 month old!
I was just wondering if you or anyone you know was on these tablets or anything simular when they were pregnant and how they got on with it?
Iam concerned about the baby so any advise would be great!
Thanks.

Last time I was on venlafaxine when I discovered I was pregnant. Against the advice of my psychiatrist, I came off it. Once I was 6 months pregnant (& miserable) I went on Lustral (sertraline) which is also an SSRI like prozac. DD is absolutely fine, as was the rest of my pregnancy, and breast-feeding.
This time (now 21 weeks) I have stayed on the sertraline and am confident about it.
If you are subject to severe depression (etc) the best advice seems to be to stay on the lowest dose you can manage on. There is lots of evidence that babies born to disressed women are a bit distressed themselves, whereas they seem to be fine with the ssris, particularly prozac as it is the oldest and so has the most evidence. Best to speak to a psychiatrist as they are up to speed with drugs and effects unlike the average GP who knows as much about medicines for piles!
Last time I found lots of support on other wesbsites with US talk boards called ' depressed and pregnant' and things like that. Good luck!
