Hi everyone - am nearly 6 weeks pregnant with my first child and am all over the place. My partner isn't coping too well with my emotional behaviour. He doesn't have any friends that have had babies, and not really been around pregnant women much. He's a great talker and listener, and we have an amazing relationship. We really need to get this sorted. I've ordered him "The Blokes Guide to Pregnancy", but is there anything else I/we can do?? Thanks in advance x

I go through screwy, emotional patches when I am pregnant and also anxiety. My DH is also brilliant but has found this difficult, particularly as he is the most logical, reasoned, even-tempered person on the planet. We found that talking about my anxieties helped both of us. I tended to bottle it up and just behave awfully, otherwise. I benefitted a bit from his reassurance, and he understood what was going on in my brain. He also did some reading around and realised that some pregnant women suffer from hormonal mood swings, so he knows that some of it is biology and outside my control.

Good luck!

Make an agreement that whatever happens in the next 34 weeks you don't mean and actually you quite love him really?

For me at about 8 weeks I couldn't stay awake for more than a few hours in the evening so my husband got quite a bit of 'time-out' from my crazy hormones.. I think this made it easier for him and me!

Now I'm a bit further in (28 wks), I'm still hormonal (and freaked out if I'm honest) but when I feel a bit off I jsut have to say that I'm heading for a freakout and he should probably back off (go to the shop etc!)
