Did you show earlier with your 2nd pregnancy than your 1st?

Was the sickness the same?

Was the birth similar?

thanks upfront xx

Very similar in the things you have mentioned, but not the same. Birth was worse (but that is very much the exception rather than the rule).

Congratulations BTW .

Pregnancy 1 and 2 were almost identical in every way.
Pregnancy 3 was completely different.

(All three were boys btw)

Chuffingoodtime · 07/12/2005 03:23

1st and 2nd very different pretty much no sickness first not a lot of sickness with second but just didn't feel as well. Bump showed up heaps earlier and grew faster with second but seems to have slowed down to look similar to how I did with first by about 28wks
Food cravings different, skin condition on my face different, generally feel quite different so think this will be boy, first was a dd.
Birth terrible with 1st going to emergency c-sec, this one scheduled so can't answer that I'm afraid.

SKYLERtnightholynight · 07/12/2005 05:22

Quite different. No sickness with 1, sickness with 2, arrived spontaneously 2 days late and had a waterbirth with 1, induced 9 days over with 2 (much quicker labour though and quicker recovery too), felt great with 1, felt tired and crap with 2.
Both girls although I was convinced number 2 was a boy. Was in shock for days.

I am preg with 2nd and so far sickness is worse, showing already and only 7 weeks. Can't answer the rest yet.

PickasillyChristmasName · 07/12/2005 08:31

I showed about the same time.

Sickness started a little earlier and went on a little longer but wasn't as bad.

Birth was different - quicker, no intervention needed and I didn't have a PPH afterwards . And I didn't need stitches .

My two pregnancies have been practically identical up to a point. Was never actually sick but felt like it loads of times, went off food completely, bump identical, identical cravings (chocolate) same horrid acid reflux too.

Differences are SPD/SI worse this time and I've got a horrendous heavy dragging feeling down below I didn't have last time oh and Braxton Hicks loads of them this time.

Birth I don't know yet, first was 4h 20 mins after waters breaking, v painful and needed loads of stitches afterwards.

Pg1 (DD)- no sickness/nausea, looked well, felt well, massive torpedo-like bump, 12 hr labour, all straightforward.
Pg 2 (DS - due in 6 weeks) - slight nausea, looked well, felt v hormonal, gestational diabetes, massive torpedo-like bump, hoping for straightforward birth again but will have to wait & see!!

Have grown much quicker this time & felt movements much earlier too.

chIRIStmasfairybigpants · 07/12/2005 09:03

fingers crossed that you will just sail through then pucca!

pucca · 07/12/2005 09:03

Kitty....i suffered with SPD with first pg, its awful. Couldnt even do simple things like turn over in bed or put socks on, horrendeous pain. I hope i dont get that again!

They gave me a support belt last time, which was useless, didnt help at all...i have total sympathy for you.

DD involved three months of throwing up. started showing around 15 weeks, felt her move around 18 weeks. birth was 32 hours with every available form of pain relief, failed ventouse and forceps delivery.
at 14 weeks, i have only been sick once in this pregnancy and that was caused by a tummy bug. started showing at 11 weeks. thought i've felt the baby move, but i think it was my imagination. hoping for a quick and easy birth this time.

harpsiheraldangelssing · 07/12/2005 09:09

completely different
first pg felt so nauseous I could bearly eat anything for months, but hardly sick at all
put on tons of weight, carried low and wide
felt full of energy
baby was breech so had C section
baby girl, 7lbs 2oz

second pg would feel really really sick for a short period. throw up but then would feel fine
ate like a horse
hardly put on any weight at all, carry very very neatly, only in mat clothes from about 37 weeks
very bad SPD (pelvic pain), felt very uncomfortable and unwieldy
fast and painful labour
anotehr baby girl, much to my surprise (it has felt so different I was convinced it was a boy)
8lbs 3 oz
was back in my normal clothes within a fortnight
in fact weigh less now (three weeks later) than when I got pregnant

Pidge · 07/12/2005 09:14

Sicker 2nd time round and it lasted till 4 months instead of 3, really thought it was never going to go away.

Bump probably similar size but the rest of me put on more weight and it's taken longer to lose it. Mostly due to me eating more cake and cookies this time.

Birth - a different world. First time was almost 3 days, posterior baby, epidural, syntocin. Second time 9 hours, at home in water as planned, no pain relief at all and left it far too late to call the midwives as I kept thinking "This is completely manageable" - didn't phone them until I was fully dilated and pushing (oops!).

Totally love being a mum of 2 - good luck and enjoy it.

OhlittletownofEIDSVOLD · 08/12/2005 02:17

totally different - bump all out front and huge - showed so early and was just HUGE for what seemed like forever, had all day sickness with dd2 needed to constantly eat or I would be sick - with dd1 it was get up, puke and then right for the day.

Both were c-sections - one was an emergency and the other was an elective... but recovered so much quicker after no2 than no1 despite coming home to toddler after second wheras first - dd1 stayed in hospital for three weeks.

Dd1 was 6lb 1/2 oz and dd2 was 9lb 7 oz
