ongoing bleeding

Dear All,
I have just joined today and would welcome some advice. I am 14 weeks pregnant and the experience so far has been rather worrying for me and my partner.
I have been pretty much constantly bleeding for the last 8 weeks. It has ranged from light spotting to 2 heavy bleeds last week on holiday. (The heavy bleeds were both in the morning and once I had wiped my self there was no more and my urine wasn't red).I have also had horrendous pains which the midwife attributed to the cyst. I have had 4 scan now including the 12 week one and they have shown the baby has been fine and they think the bleeding is down to a cyst they found when they first scanned me. I also have the added stress of being rhesus negative and so have to have a jab everytime I bleed!!
I am going to the early preg unit again tomorrow for another scan after my 2 heaviysh bleeds on holiday. Hopefully everything will be okay. I have also had about 3 little clots in this 8 week period as well.

Has anyone else been in this situation? I find it very distressing and all I want is a healthy baby!

Any advice would be very gratefully received.

Poor you, all sounds very worrying.

I only had two bleeds myself at 7 and then 27 weeks, but i have a friend who bled almost constantly until 25 weeks with her second and everything turned out fine. They never even found a cause for hers.

They are clearly keeping an eye on you so (and I know it's far easier said than done) you just have to try to relax and take it easy, and try not to worry too much as it won't be good for either of you.

Also, do make sure you go to the hospital each time you have a bleed, as you will need the jab each time (rhesus neg myself so sympathise!) Sorry!

I also had bleeding on and off right through my pregnancy (the perfectly healthy result of which is sitting next to me at the moment wathcing Dora the Explorer). Some heavy, some clots, you name it.

I was also told it was a cyst at first - turned out to be something more rare called a 'haemangioma' which is basically an internal varicose vein as far as I can work out.

It was stressful at times and meant loads of hospital trips to get checked out. However, the upside I suppose was that as time went on I knew dd was perfectly OK because I had several scans and lots of dopplers etc. (Although at 23 weeks they told me my cervix was open and I was about to go into labour, because they had seen it on the scan - it was not and I didn't, I went to full term).

It meant that the birth was somewhat over medicalised from the off and they had a foetal monitor on me etc. I'm not one for worrying too much about that though because after all the bleeding I just wanted the baby to be OK, and she was.

I have always found EPU to be completely rubbish when having to locate the source of bleeding. I have had bleeding in all my pregnancies (4--2 of which miscarried), and never have they been able to find the source.

This pregnancy, when I was 16 weeks and bleeding, and after EPU again said they didn't know why, I went to FMC on Harley Street for a scan. They were extremely thorough and found the cause of the bleed--from a pocket of blood in the placenta, which was not affecting the pregnancy. The bleed did carry on for a couple weeks, I passed a couple of clots and it went. It may be worth going to see them just for peace of mind and answers.

I bled on and off throughout DS's pregnancy, the first at 7+4 and it continued on and off until about 34 weeks. I had lots of extra scans and examinations and they never found a cause. The first few times it was very worrying, but I have to say, I became more relaxed about it as the pregnancy went on, I suppose I got used to it to a certain extent - although I did always get it checked out. DS is two at the end of the month and a perfectly happy, healthy little boy.

I need some advice, as I'm very confused or in deny. (we have been trying for 10mths)
My period was due three days ago, I took a pregnancy test (a strip) the day after I was due and it was negative. I bought a more expensive test and it was positive but a faint line. I took another one this morning and it was negative. By this afternoon I had light bleeding. No way as heavy as my usually period but heavier than spotting. My breast are very tender, (which was the first sign with my first pregnancy). My husband says we should wait until Saturday (a week after my period was due) and do another test.
Should I go to my doctors? Should I wait?

You would be much better to start your own thread on this because more people will see it and it doesn't get confused about who's answering what.

I don't really know how to answer your question - can you phone GP and ask thier advice? I have done this with my gp in the past and they have been fine about it.
