New to the site, so hello to anyone who's around. I'm 34 weeks preggers with no.3 and have very bad varicose veins this time in places you wouldn't imagine possible. Had them both times before but not like this! Anyone else suffering? Am very concerned they won't go away this time!!

I'm alright just feel like I'm dragging the body of an old woman around with me, no offence to old women! Hopefully not long to go before I find out if I'm stuck with them. Thanks

I've had them get increasingly worse over three pregnancies. They haven't gone down so much since the last one, but I don't think it helps that I'm now rather overweight. They should at least fade quite a bit.

They're right down one leg which isn't a big deal in itself cos i never or very rarely show my legs off but its the feeling that they're going to explode. I'm not overweight but never get the chance to "put your feet up" as the medical profession like to tell you. Thank goodness its december and not july tho, least i can cover them all up!

Mine are all down the inside of one leg, plus I have loads of broken veins too. My legs look about fourty years olde3r than the rest of me. I remember that feeling, they really ached towards the end, but that has defo passed. Support stockings might help?

vhairi · 05/12/2005 15:09

Yes i got the broken veins too, some of us are just real lucky arent we?! I tried support knee highs but they were so tight thought my leg was going to fall off , tho that could have solved my problem. Usually wear a rather fetching elastic bandage which does help a bit. Think my body is telling me no more babies after this!

but u can't ahve an odd number, one will feel left out.

vhairi · 05/12/2005 16:49

but if i had another then i would have to get new house, new car and probabaly new husband cos if i tell him i'm pregnant again he'll either have a heart attack or leave!

hmm, that what happened to us. We had to get the new house, the new car and very nearly had the heart attack. I never seen him look so ill as when he saw dts on the ultrasound!

vhairi · 05/12/2005 17:36

How many do you have then?

OP posts:
Kelly1978 · 05/12/2005 17:39

four, the dts were a bit of a surprise. the whoel pg was a surprise. Def no more now tho - my body nearly gave up last time, collapsed lung and all sorts.

vhairi · 05/12/2005 17:44

My first was huge surprise, 2nd planned,3rd was talked about but happened before we actually agreed for definite but was obviously meant to be here! I'm actually quite lucky tho, easy pregnancies apart from the veins. My cousin is about 23 weeks with her 2nd and has had a collapsed lung twice. What did they do for you?

nothing really. They offered to keep me in, for rest, but told me I needed to exercise more. That was impossible at 35 weeks with twins. I ended up dosed up on painkillers. I feel for your cousin, it really is excrutiating.

JIFDA · 05/12/2005 20:57

I have terrible legs too! i just had 1 down 1 of my legs but with each pregnancy they have got worse! i am now on my 4th & the whole of my calf is ONE BIG vein & broken veins. i find that late afternoons are worse when they start to ache. Im hoping after the birth they will go down alot! they dont look very nice at all.

vhairi · 06/12/2005 12:09

hiya jifda, sounds pretty much like me, keep thinking it can't get any worse but it does!
How come you never see celebs and models with these problems? Or any stretchmarks for that matter?
