Is gripe water safe during pregnancy?

I am wide awake as I have the most awful trapped wind & it is so painful I want to cry. Can I use gripe water to try & help? Not that I have any here but I will buy some in the morning if I can. Any other remedies would be greatfully received too x

As far as I'm aware it's safe, my GP told me when DS was small that Gripe Water doesn't have any active ingredients these days - it's just dill oil and sodium bicarbonate.

Supposedly a glass of warm water will help but I can stand the taste of wam water so I've never tried it for trapped wind. I find that a bath works well, I think it's the combination of change of position and warmth. Moving around can help untrap it too. My dad tells me that Gaviscon can ease the discomfort so if you've got any try a swig?

Another tip that makes you feel silly but does often get it moving is to get down on all fours and then onto your elbows and stick your bum up in the air for a while. I find doing this and lying down swopping sides will help. I would also say a hot bath. Rennie Deflatines are also safe to take in pregnancy.

I suffer from trapped wind alot and sympathise as it really hurts! x

Thanx Gemma, I found those rennies & have been trying them today. Will also try the bum in the air thing later if needed, bf will think I have lost the plot, lol x
