Which hospital in South West London should I use?

Hi,

Very early days for me (about 4 weeks) but I wondered if anyone (based in South West London) can let me know whether they have had good experiences with St Thomas, Chelsea & Westminster or St Georges? I used C&W for my first pregancy, which was great but it's not the most accessible when working in the City and we've moved further towards Wandsworth. I know my GP will ask which I want to go with so any thoughts welcome.

I used Queen Charlotte's which was great but that might not be south enough for you? C&W are also great but you know that!

I used St Georges but it was about 6 years ago, it was absolutely fine, mind you I was a pretty uncomplicated case, epidural took a while to come but think that is often the case anywhere dependant on how busy things are.
Absolutely no grumbles with it and was the most convenient for us as we were Wandsworth.

Home from home at St Thomas' was great with my first 2 years ago. Ended up in theatre on labour ward which was also fine although inevitably much more medicalised and less relaxed. Post natal ward wasn't a place I'd recommend, but I don't think any of them are.

Going back to St Thomas' for number 2 in October, despite having moved much nearer Kings. And keeping fingers crossed that delivery can happen in the wonderful home from home unit (MW led) which will also mean I steer clear of post natal.

Thank you, it does seem like all the post natal wards are pretty rough, shame because I really needed help last time as I got quite sick from infection! Anyone had good experiences post natal?

I shouldn't mis-sell the post natal ward. Was just hot, overcrowded, understaffed with some pretty stressed out midwives who weren't always pleasant to their patients.

That said, much of this was redeemed by one amazing midwife who was just lovely. And finding the strength to be politely assertive about a few things! I've also heard it's much better now than it was a couple of years ago.
