Been very sick twice in the last 12 hours. No other real symptoms worried for the baby - worried it could be listeria but no flu like symptoms
anyone know what i should be looking for re listeria

Don't know sorry, but I had gastric flu when I was 15 weeks. Vomitting, diarrhoea and a temp up to 105. Dr wasn't concerned about the baby at all.

I had a basic bug about 20 weeks too - again, doctor wasn't all that bothered (they don't seem to care about pregnant hysterical women). Call your doc and they should be able to put your mind at rest

thanks, feeling rough today but the throwing up has stopped so I am hoping the worst is over

I think Listeria would be more flu like symptoms than actually throwing up. My MW always reassured me thtat these types of bugs are, although a risk, are very rare.
I wouldn't worry, its probably just one of the numerous tummy bugs that are going round right now. It won't harm baby atall,as long as you stay hydrated.
Take care and try to rest. xx

Unlikely to be listeria (which often even has no symptoms at all), especially if you've been following eating advice. Understand how you feel though as I would have been worried had I been sick. It may have just been a dodgy tummy.

i had terrible throwing up bug for a few days last xmas when i was about 6 months pg, and although it was complete misery, everything was fine. Dd seemingly unaffected and now thriving!

orangina · 04/12/2005 11:30

sorry, meant to mention, was definitely one of those foul bugs just doing the rounds.....

Tumblemum · 04/12/2005 18:22

Thanks everybody. I do love mumsnet . Resting and feeling better not been sick again thank goodness, it has taught me a lesson though I am going to rigidly follow the eating advice I have to admit i do have the odd bit of blue cheese etc.. and this has just added to the worry.
Fortunately dh and ds are away now at a planned in law visit so i have been able to rest up.

The very reassuring dietician who specialises in pregnancy (proper dietician works at Sheffield University nutrition dept - not a bored housewife!) said that if you are throwing up, don't worry. The only things that can harm your baby don't cause sickness!

There are some pretty horrible vomiting viruses around atm - 24 and 48 hours.

Tumblemum · 05/12/2005 14:24

that is reassuring, I think because I lost the last baby I have an off sense that things are not going to be ok and this sickness through me a bit, but just felt baby move so fingers crossed
