Can you feel if your cervix is a bit dilated?

This might be a weird question but I'm 35+5 and it all feels a bit weird in there. I was induced with ds1 and never had this sensation. Might it be baby's head very low? Been having a ton of braxton hicks and suddenly when they happen, it all feels a bit... Well. .. Open in there!

In my head or something that you can ever feel?

I don't think so. If you've had a baby before the cervix never fully closes iirc. I know I walked around for weeks at 3cm dilated with ds, nothing happened. If you're talking about actually having a rummage yourself, I wouldn;t advise that either. You don't really know what you're feeling for and could introduce infection, which really isn't what you want at this stage.

No way, absolutely not thinking of feeling for myself! Don't worry! Was just curious because my downstairs feels so alien.

I had a cyst on my cervix pre-pregnancy and had a poke last week to see if it was still there. (Sorry TMI!)

I felt like I was slightly dialated (Due tomorrow, so was 39 weeks at this point) so felt again this week and I wasn't! So no idea whether the babies head dropped a bit from walking all day? I tried googling it but the only thing I could find said the only reason a cervix would open and close was if it wasn't working and causes miscarriage early in pregnancy which obviously mine is working because I'm term!

As far as infection is concerned, I was worried about it all night after i had a poke then googled, but that's what your waters are for, and it's no more infectious than sex as long as you've washed your hands!

I think I ended up finding a thread from some other chat site aboutloads of women that regularly check themselves before the end, so you can definatley feel it, as long as you can reach your cervix!

I can't reach to do my bikini line so I doubt I'll get there! Don't know what I'm feeling for either so I really think I'll pass on the cervix self-check.

I just like the thought of getting to a few cms without even knowing it!

hi there, i know that with 2nd, 3rd pregnancy's etc women can be dilated up to 2cm for up to two weeks before giving birth, im not sure if that is just if urv had a previous VGB tho..might be something to ask your midwife?
when in labour with my 1st i was having really bad cramps but didnt know if it was BH so when i went to the toilet (TMI alert) i touched Blush didnt put fingers up there or anything lmao but you can definately tell when you are dialating
