I start my maternity leave in 2 hours time, hurray.

Just feel a teency, weency bit sad becasue last time it was such an event. I had to have help to the car I had so many boxes full of gifts and then we all went out for drinks and ....

This time there's only 2 people in the office and it's just all a bit.... quiet really.

i work in serviced offices and last time people from other companies dropped in with gifts and my mailing hosue sent me a box full of every size nappy you can buy and other stuff and ...

Doesn't matter, it's just the way it is, but still had to say something to you all!

Ahhh well, who cares, I'm outta here at 5pm and not back till June

Thank goodness for that . Try not to be down about the disappointing send off this time. It sounds like you had an exceptionally fabulous one the first time around.

coribells · 01/12/2005 21:30

awww, I am not expecting a big send off this time either, am hoping to slip away quietly when the time comes. I am counting down the weeks before I can take my maternity leave. Make sure you put your feet up now and make Dh do ALL the work .

biglipskissinunderthemistletoe · 01/12/2005 21:32

i remember that i was sooooo nervous and sooooo happy that the lovely workmates bought me the pressies.. i was sooooo gald that i finished work as was struggling on the last 2 weeks

THOMCATsForLifeNotJustForXmas · 01/12/2005 21:52

how long to go for the baby TC? have you thought of any interesting names yet?

expatinscotland · 01/12/2005 21:57

I'm home, too. I didn't plan to leave until 9 December - pretty silly considering 18 December due date and I had DD at 38 weeks+3 days.

I've been feeling really badly - LOTS of swelling (bp is fine), carpal tunnel, anaemia and acid reflux - however and just needed to be home.

So my boss told me to take sick until Friday and start my leave on Monday, 5 December.

My work colleague's been a real shit about it, though. She's been guilt tripping me and trying to make me feel badly about leaving.

Well the hell w/her.

expatinscotland · 01/12/2005 21:59

Send off? Nah, it's not that kind of place.

I'm just happy to get paid full whack.

When I put down that I was going to take tomorrow off on holiday, the first thing outta this colleague's mouth was, 'Can you take another day? That's a big day in here.'

Um, right. I'm 38 weeks pregnant now according to the scan I had last week, w/a hemoglobin level below 100, can't feel my hands a lot of the time, and my calves are twice their normal size. F*ck off. And I went straight to our boss.

Calista · 01/12/2005 22:02

OMG, can't believe your baby is nearly due TC! Doesn't seem like 5 minutes ago since I was reading your post about finding out at work you were pregnant and telling your DP in such a lovely way! Made a mental note to self at that time to do something similar when I hopefully become preggers with no.3...
Enjoy your mat leave and try and have as many of those snoozes as you can!

THOMCATsForLifeNotJustForXmas · 01/12/2005 22:15

Interesting names, yes, and that's what they are interesting, not actually nice as such (LOL!), they really aren't to many peoples tastes! Kasper for a boy, Ziggy for a girl. But not confirming either of those until the baby is actually here, we'll decide then.

Hey expat - happy first offiical day of your maternity leave too.

I'm so excited about this now. This is the hard but really, really good bit of the pregnancy
