I'm 30 wks pg, and felt period-like pains last night, which hurt quite a bit (definately reminded me of the beginning of labour!), and came in 5 minute intervals. There was none of the tightening that I've heard can happen with BH, so I was a bit freaked out for a while. Eventually took some paracetamol and fell asleep, so I'm presuming they were BH.....
Was just surprised that they hurt, and I didn't get them when pg with DD...

I'd keep an eye out for it happening again and maybe get checked out. My friend had a similar period type pain thing at 32 weeks and it was actually a UTI.

It doesn't sound like braxton hicks. IME they make your bump go very tight, almost drum like and come in random intervals, without pain.

Yep - I agree. BHs stop you in your tracks with the tightening. You may find it hard to move through a strong one. You feel tightness at the bottom of your bump but they don't hurt. A real contraction feels similar but with pain.
