Anyone pregnant and breastfeeding?

Would like to breastfeed DD until she is one and am planning on weaning her after that. That would mean I would be about 14 weeks pregnant before I wean her. I know that medically it is fine to breastfeed while pregnant but I wonder if I am mad?!! With my pending return to work I didn't want to do it all once...

Thoughts? Experiences?

just see how it goes. i fed dd2 whilst pregnant with dd3 and found it fine until 6 months when it was getting uncomfortable. i managed to carry on and still feed them both now at 1 and 3 years. apparently your milk changes in taste around 12 weeks so that could prompt the weaning

I breastfed for the first 5 months of my second pregnancy and it was fine. It made no difference to how I felt during pregnancy or the health of the baby.

By about 8 months DD1 was starting to take to solids quite well and so she had naturally started to drop her feeds. We stopped lunch feed first and then midmorning feed as this gave me much more freedom during the day since she was much too nosey to feed in public by that time. DD1 dropped final (bedtime) feed at 14 months with very little in the way of prompting from me.

Depending on your normal routine and when you are going back to work you might be able to keep the feeds when you are around and drop the other ones?

I'm two weeks away and breastfeeding my almost-three-year-old daughter. It's slightly different for me as I'm not feeding her for nutrition so feeds are short and about comfort really. I'm planning on tandeming (if you'd said I'd bfeed beyond a year before children I'd have laughed, let alone tandem....) and hoping this might help readjustment.

I found it painful in the early weeks and that was with nipples you could slam a car shut on. The milk all but dried up at about 12 weeks only to reappear as colostrum at about 24-6 weeks. It can sometimes feel odd doing it, but has increasingly begun to feel normal (hard to explain what I mean)

HCPs have raised their eyebrows so I don't mention it now. They haven't said why it is wrong though.

I expect my mother and MIL will be shocked to find out I'm feeding both.

One of the reasons we pushed on was that I thought I had growth issues (since found all is well) and thought I may have to deliver earlier and wanted my daughter to be able to keep my supply going as I am a lousy expresser. But all is well and preeclampsia not appeared with this one so far so here we are. Going to shock the others on the post-natal ward I guess.

I breastfed DC1 while I was pregnant with DC2. I finally stopped at 30 weeks and it was all fine for me, for DC1 and DC2 was quite a fatty when born, so quite obviously didn't suffer either ;-)

I bf DD until I was 14 weeks pg (she was 14.5 months) when she self weaned. I kept offering her for another 2 weeks and she just wasn't interested (she was down to 1 bed time feed anyway). I didn't persist beyond that as I had horrendous morning (ha!) sickness and didn't mind her giving it up, but would have managed if she'd wanted to continue.

I'm not sure if the taste changed (I didn't try it personally) but the look and consistency of my milk changed to be quite clear and watery.

Thank you so much! Very useful to have others' experiences. DD is a champ eater and is down to only morning and evening milk feeds and occasional afternoon one. I plan on dropping that one in the next couple of weeks before going back to work. I want to keep on with the AM and PM feeds while she adjusts to life in nursery and me being back at work. But think I might be knackered after that and it might help to wean her. Your suggestions are useful and I will take my cues from her and how I am feeling with the new bub growing...
