Itchy nipples! Is this normal?

I'm 27+3 today and for the last few days have had VERY itchy nipples on and off. It last for a few minutes when I get it and moves outwards making my breasts itchy, then goes!!
This can't be normal can it?! Has anyone else had this problem? It's very embarrassing when I'm at work! Blush

I guess its your boobs growing bigger - the skin is itchy where its stretching..

What a lovely thought!

globex · 27/07/2011 15:24

Also meant to say - I think it is normal! And embarrassing too!

Renaissance227 · 27/07/2011 15:24

Sorry if it's TMI for you!
They haven't grown any bigger since week 22 (ish). Occasionally I have a day where they feel fuller but this is not linked with when I get the itching!

I could take a cheese grater to mine they are so itchy! 34+3 here. They were really itchy earlier on and the past week or so it has been almost unbearable Grin

So glad it's not just me! Smile

Yup, happened to me at the same point. Itch, itch, itch. A week later? They had colostrum leaking out of them. I think the blood vessels and ducts waking up and starting to make the first reseves of colostrum just feels itchy tbh.

Goodness me yes!! I'd forgotten! I could've happily ripped them off!

hermionejgranger · 27/07/2011 17:25

mine are a bit tingly too but mostly looking chapped - i'm 10+2. See my similar question here! some useful tips too :)

WiiUnfit · 27/07/2011 18:09

Mine were itchy pretty much all through my pregnancy! Try some stretch mark oil on them - BioOil or similar, really helped me as did putting something cold (not too cold though - ouch) on them!

Happy itchy tits! Grin

Yep!! About 20 - 30 wks, they were awfull! Really itchy and perminantly errect! They did have a sort of tiny clear scab type thing on them at one spell. not sure if it was dried milk or they had been leaking?
I just kept them cool ( easy when at home, not so easy at work) Put loads of moisturiser on.
Think there is some special cream, but can't remember the name?
I'm 35 weeks now, and it has calmed down a bit for the past few weeks thank god!
I do understand at work - I was dying to just get them out and start rubbing Blush

MrsBakerNeeld · 28/07/2011 09:51

Completely normal from what I can fathom. Mine have been driving me mental since 20 wks and I've found little relief other that a nice cold moisturiser.

MissusTulip · 28/07/2011 10:58

oh yes, had this in end of first trimester and start of 2nd - peaked at 14-16 weeks. Maddening!!! Slathered them in bio oil, that did seem to help, as they were a bit dry, then spent an afternoon picking off dried skin - gross, but less itchy afterwards Blush Obviously I wasn't at work that day...

Renaissance227 · 28/07/2011 12:04

Thanks for the advice. I'll try moisturiser when I get home.
