Crazy thoughts!?!

So I am 11 weeks tomorrow & have my first midwife appointment & after a bizarre nightmare I keep imagining that she is going to tell me I am not pregnant, just getting fat! I have 4 BFP in my cupboard, 24 hour nausea & exhaustion & a baby bump so I know this is irrational but still it is bothering me. These hormones are turning me into a loon!!!

Hi Squiglett I think that's totally natural. I spent the first 12 weeks convincing myself I must be imagining it all, because until your first scan of course everybody just takes your word for it. But those tests are good and accurate.

Anyway, just wanted to say you're not a loon!!

After 10 years of being told it will never happen naturally, I'm now 17 weeks and still don't believe it!!! I don't think I will until I've got baby in my arms (or at least labour pains!!!)

I'm always the same and this is technically my fourth pregnancy. When I was in labour with DS I was also convinced that the assessment unit were going to tell me my pains were trapped wind and that they'd laugh themselves silly at the daft first-timer who can't tell the difference between wind an contractions.

It's normal, pregnancy makes you slightly irrational (have the bizarre dreams started yet?). It'll all seem much more real after your first scan :)

I went to my 12 week scan fully expecting them to smile, pat me on the head and tell me I was mistaken!

I did spend the rest of the day looking at my DH and repeating "we're having a baby, really having a baby" Smile

When DS was born my first words when they plonked this purple little squealing person on my chest? In utter shock and disbelief "it's a baby, we made a baby". Still didn't believe it then :o

Lol @ the fact that we are all a little bit crazy then. I've had some mad dreams already, given birth to puppies, twins & in 1 dream loads of babies, they just kept on coming. I hope I get to listen to babies heartbeat today as that makes it all a bit realer & then Monday I have my scan. My kids are coming to that so it will be realer for us all then :o)

Have you checked to make sure kids are allowed in scans? My hospital doesn't allow it so my step-son couldn't come with us :(

Squiglettsmummy2bx · 27/07/2011 19:14

Yes it is fine & to be honest I have no childcare so they would have to be with me whether the hospital liked it or not. It's a shame your hospital didn't allow it :o(
