can anyone tell me if there are any ill effects for the baby if taken for pain relief in labour?all the others such as pethidine seem to slow down the babys breathing rate and slow down labour but i couldn't find much info on this.

Stemetil is for anti-sickness I think. They give you a shot of it along with the pethidine/meptid/diamorphine cos they all make you nauseous.
