shes 34 weeks preg and has had a show. she was just wonderin if because its her 2nd pregnancy whether this makes her more likely to go into labour pretty much staight away or soon?? i told her i didnt think it meant that she would give birth so early but i thought i would ask for a bit of advice / feedbac from you lovely ladies!! thanx

I had a show the day i gave Birth both times. Sorry i don't know if you can have a show and it to mean nothing! ?

Why doesn't she give her Maternity unit a quick ring?

starlover · 29/11/2005 21:19

is she 100% sure it's a show?

i don't think it's necessarily a sign that labour is imminent... but in a lot of cases labour starts in the next few days

starlover · 29/11/2005 21:20

oh btw, i had a show 3 days before i went into labour.
had another one the morning i went into labour too....

A friend of mine had a show and didn't have the baby for 2 weeks - whereas I had mine and had ds2 the next day. I don't think it means birth is imminent but as your friend is only 34 weeks maybe she should go and be checked out anyway?

QueenVictoria · 29/11/2005 21:22

i had a few apparent shows - one at 34 weeks and one at 32 weeks.

nothing more until 39 weeks after a rather rough examination by a consultant to check wether i should be induced. went into labour 2 days later.

She could have just over done it or something.

I had a show with DS1, and went into labour the same day (my waters popped everywhere about 5 hours later.)
Make sure she takes it easy for a couple of weeks, (the longer the baby stays put, the better)
Hopefully we will be hearing good news in a few weeks!
Let us any news on her (and wish her luck from us)

suzywong · 29/11/2005 23:26

No, it isn't

hunkermunker · 29/11/2005 23:27

I didn't have a show at all - my labour started with my waters breaking, but still no show!

Nemoinapeartree · 29/11/2005 23:28

nope unfortunately not. Show can appear anytime up to 2/3 wks before going into labour. I never ever had one with ds.

dramaqueen72 · 30/11/2005 00:02

hey Ei, tell your friend -no, a show coming away is usually only part of the story..means youre body is def thinking about birth and changing inside but no date can be deduced from it I'm afraid, and your body keeps replacing parts of it as they come away too (-until you lose all of it, iyswim!)
I have had one/part of one already and theres no baby here yet its a sign shes nearing the end of her pg- which she knew at 34wks anyhow!, but nothing more than that. HTH
