Glucose Tolerance Test

I am due to have the GTT. After I have drank the minging drink (they are too cheap for lucozade in my authority...) are you allowed some water to try and get rid of the taste? I can try and neck the drink quickly but would rather I could wash it down a bit after. Any experiences welcome.

You can drink water but absolutely nothing else. No chewing gum, no mints, nothing. Only water.

Could you not take in Lucozade yourself? At my hospital you have to take your own anyway.

Also - take magazines/book - it takes ages to drink and then you have to hang around for 2 hours or something mad.....

Got my 4th GTT in September.....

My hospital allows us to take in original lucozade too.

A bit of plain water is fine.

I had mine done at my gp's and took my own lucozade, the nurse said to ask if I needed any water.

you can have water but mine said not tooo much but was allowed to have a cup of water to take the taste out

Mine never put a limit on water at all. But I checked yesterday to see if I was allowed lucozade instead of the foul drink this time and it was still no. Boo :(

Is the drink that bad?! I'd take a smint or other strong sugar-free mint and just suck it briefly then get rid of it.

No! No smints, sugar free or otherwise! Nothing, nada. Just water. I had a mouth spray confiscated :o

no they dont give it to every pregnancy, only if risk factors like people in your family have diabetes, high bmi, you had gestational diabetes before etc

No crazy. I didn't have on one my last pregnancy two years ago but put on a lot of weight during it which I never lost, so now have a higher BMI of 32 thats why I will have one :(
