OK ladies - I'm hoping there are some people around to offer advice about what has just happened?!?!?!

I felt a small trickle - a bit like I'd wet myself, but only a really small bit.

I went to the loo to check and other than some discharge (which I've had right throughout this pregnancy) and my knickers being a little moist... again there is nothing else there.

So..........whats the verdict have I
a) had a show
b) lost some of my waters
c) just wet myself

I've also got a very mild tummy ache but that may be entirely down to just eating Chilli.

Are you due?

piffle · 29/11/2005 19:09

b or c - my show was a very def plug of slightly pink mucous, not trickle of anything like you desribe
I've never had my waters go nor wet myself when pregnant, so I'd opt for b) assuming you've no pelvic floor problems already? But all mums to be are different The joy of it.
How many weeks are you btw?

sweetheart · 29/11/2005 19:09

I will be due on Sunday.

Have a good sniff!

sweetheart · 29/11/2005 19:11

when I had dd my waters were broken so I've never had any experience of this before really.

I did give birth in January to a 17 week foetus and felt my waters pop after I was induced but I didn't really feel a pop tonight - just a small trickle.

Is it possible to loose such a tiny amount?

what would I be sniffing for?

I'd go for b - that's exactly what happened to me and I went into labour (ten days early) 12 hours later.

Good luck!

slinksanta · 29/11/2005 19:12

i get really watery discharge just before i go into labour, it could be that

piffle · 29/11/2005 19:12

the waters can leak out quite slowly too I know cos I read it on MN, so muct be a fact...
Sounds like you might be on the go SH
Oooh in just the mood for a baby
Someone elses that is
Good luck!

Springchicken · 29/11/2005 19:14

I would say waters.
My waters went in the night with DD - I sat for ages wondering what the hell was going on as it definitely wasnt the almighty pop i'd been expecting.

Wahoooo - should be anytime soon then

yoyo · 29/11/2005 19:15

Think some people lose the hind water in this way although it never happened with me. With DD2 and DS the show and waters breaking were practically simultaneous. The show was definitely pink and mucous and the waters breaking was like having no control over a huge wee.

Flossam · 29/11/2005 19:21

smell of wee. Waters should be odourless.

sweetheart · 29/11/2005 19:24

OK well the tummy ache was def down to the Chilli - just had a horrid tummy!

I've been and changed my knickers so I can properly investigate if it happens again this evening.

I hope this is the start! Please, please, please, please!!!!

It may not be down to the chilli, some people do have a bout of "bowel cleansing" (shall we call it) at the onset of labour, so fingers crossed.

Try this, empty your bladder, stand over a newspaper (or similar) & bear down. If its your waters you may see some evidence on the paper. Lots of women have an upset tummy just before going into labour. Good luck & if you do give birth soon, pop into the Nov ladies postnatal thread. Just joined it myself. [smile}

Let me explain a bit about waters breaking. In front of the baby's head are the forewaters. When they go, they often go with a bit of a gush. Behind the baby lies the hindwaters. When they go, its usually with a slow trickle. Now.....having said all that, my hindwaters went with a gush last week as the baby's head was floating high above the pelvic brim so there were no forewaters as such. The forewaters became apparant later as the head descended into the pelvis once I was actually in labour.

Basically, there are many different ways of your membranes rupturing. If you're worried ring your mw or the delivery ward.

Springchicken · 29/11/2005 20:13

Dodgy tummy sounds suspect too. ohhhhhh sounds like your getting ready

tegan · 29/11/2005 20:14

It definately sounds water related. With dd1 I had trickles like that for 22 hours then mw broke them properly and out she popped, but with dd2 it was totally different. Had a show at 10am then nothing until my waters went big time on the living room floor at 4pm contractions started at 5.30pm and she popped out at 9.38pm.

Good luck and big hugs xxx
