Morning sickness.... in the evening?

I'm nearly nine weeks pregnant, and morning sickness has really kicked in this past week... but in the evening. From about 4pm i start to feel lousy, and end up being violently sick. It's awful. Today i had to pull over on the motorway and then run to the loo's in Asda.

Anyone else feel like crap in the evenings?

This is virtually identical to a post I wrote 4 months ago!! Am 28wks with my 3rd & only ever got evening sickness this pregnancy. It kicked in at 8wks & went on til about 14wks. I woke feeling totally fine, was pretty much ok all day, then from 5pm onwards it all went downhill. My only advice would be to try & eat at least something before bed if u can manage it, even just a bowl of cereal, otherwise you might wake totally starving with middle of the night sickness! Hope it passes after 1st trimester for you.

I had/am having the same problem...started at 6 weeks and am still going strong at 17 (though you probably didn't want to hear that OP). Mine is all day sickness, but worse in the evenings.

Can you leave work a little earlier so you can get safely home before the worst of it kicks in? I agree with icravecheese, try and eat something, anything you can face, before you go to bed, as I find I actually feel worse when I have an empty stomach and a little something calms it down a bit. And keep a snack by the side of the bed in case you wake up hungry..I was laughed at for having a packet of digestives in my top drawer, but they have proved their worth for 4am munchies!

Oooooh, huge congrats dee .

Sorry you are feeling lousy in the evenings. Know exactly how it feels, although a long time ago for me now.

Did you have ms at other times of the day in your other pregnancies?

Have you tried the wrist band thingies? They seemed to just about take the edge off it for me.

Congrats on the pregnancy. With DD i was sick morning noon and night it's awful isn't it. Now pregnant again 9 weeks and nothing this time.

Hope it eases soon for you it's rotten.

ahh poor you. I had the same, didn't eat a proper meal in the evenings for weeks. It wore off around 11/12 weeks though. Hope you feel better soon.

I had HG

had sickness all the time 24 / 7 and i went through a phase of middle of the night sickness too

1 second being fast asleep in bed... then about 10secs warning to wake up and get to loo too vomit... was lucky my side of bed was right next to en suite door, otherwise i would not have made it.

I hope you feel better soon. Agree its just horrid

I'd say keep nibbling whatever foodstuff works for you, keep sipping water/pop whatever works for you and get as much sleep as possible. Usually the sickness eases in 2nd trimester. I was always grateful I could get up and out in the morning when I had it, but it's horrid whatever time of day it happens to be. Good luck. It'll be worth it in the end!!

I'm sorry, i should have mentioned that i'm a diabetic and have to have regular meals so that i can take my insulin. It's ok in the mornings, i can manage breakfast, lunchtime is ok too - a small sandwich or such, but by tea time i'm gaggging. I have to take my insulin a minimum of eight and a maximum of 12 hours after my morning dose, so i'm really struggling to force something, anything down.

Deemented can you talk to your diabetic nurse about this? (I'm type 1 diabetic) she may change your insulin regime to suit. I'm on an insulin pump and its really got me through this pregnancy especially as your sugars will be so challenging for the next 7 months.

PS my morning sickness was from 12 noon until 11pm ish every day so was in the same boat. It wore off by 16 weeks.

I have done and all she said was that if i didn't eat then i didn't need to take my insulin - but then in the next breath told me that it was vitally important for me to eat and take my insulin because my sugars had been so uncontrolled

Think it's called 'morning sickness' cos that's when it starts. Mine last all day and is worse in the evening

I had 'evening' sickness as well - from about 6pm onwards I could barely face the smell of food. I never threw up, I just had no appetite and nothing appealed to me. DH and I would end up cooking a meal and then I would only be able to pick at it or eat nothing at all. It was like being seasick!

It went away completely after about 14 weeks though and am 30 weeks now and doing fine.

With your diabetes, I can imagine it must be harder to manage though. Are there any snacky foods you fancy eating at all? The few things I did fancy eating were fruit salad or microwave popcorn or cheese on toast, so small and light things might be the way to go? I couldn't face meat or fish at all.

It is horrible. I have had this for the last week, started at 18 weeks - once the daytime sickness feeling had gone around 14 weeks I thought that part was over : ( All I have managed to work out is that I can eat small amounts of carbs eg. bread, toasties, cereal, so have been living on that for the last few days since I sussed it out, as I have three other kids under 6 and need to have some energy to cope with them. Can't face meat, fish or veg. My current nightmare is trying to cook dinner for DH and the kids each night as he isn't home in time.

I am just hoping that like most pregnancy things it will pass and hopefully sooner rather than later. To give you some hope for future pregnancies this is my 4th and the first time I have actually been sick!
