Obstetric Cholestasis - please vote for us

Hello everyone,

As member of the OC Support UK forum I'm emailing you to ask if you could spare a couple of minutes to help us out.

Obstetric cholestasis is a relatively rare but potentially dangerous condition in pregnancy.

Regarding my post: We are really close with another competitor, so I just put any scruples aside and posted here because this is such a good cause. Sorry, am hoping not to offend anyone..

  1. go to (top menu): Support A Cause
  2. Enter "OC Support UK" into the box
  3. it will come up with a "support" button.

Hi - I had OC with my last pregnancy and was living outside the UK at the time. Your website was a huge support and resource for me. I appreciated it so much! Am now pregnant again and living in fear of the itching feet and hands - cross your fingers for me that I won't get OC again...! (I know the chances are high). I've registered and voted for you.

Cameli - you have to register, then go back to Blog/Cause of the Month, then log in (again) and THEN you can vote. It is a bit of a faff to be honest - it's a slightly annoying website - but only took about 2 mins probably.

starkadder I am not running the OC website.. am just a member of the OC forum and got a mail from the Ladies who do run that website asking for support/votes Blush I thought this is worthy of posting in a public forum and hoping not to get expelled from mn now...

I had OC to in my last pregnancy (and probably undiagnosed in the previous 2), and Jenny was really helpful to me - and I even got to meet her and take part in the research they are doing at Queen Charlotte's. I've also managed to vote, although it was quite a faff - and excitingly that seems to have taken it marginally ahead of the nearest rival (for now!).

Jellyyelly if you don't mind me asking: were your Babies born a bit prematurely when you said you had undiagnosed OC?

I also had OC in my last pg, had the test at 37 weeks and went into labour a couple of days later (basically 3 weeks early).. I was told during labour that I had OC.. (well I asked about the result and then they told me that I had OC..)

I would like another baby, and I guess that OC shouldn't deter me from that (OC is likely to return, isn't it?)

Yes and the voting is an extremely close race.. every time I look the nearest rival is about ONE vote ahead or behind of OC support... so Ladies - get voting Smile

grrd - no worries at all. Yes, all three DSs were early which was one reason why Jenny and the consultant thought I'd probably had OC with all of them. First was 35+5 (weighed 6lbs 9oz), second was 36+6 (weighed 7lbs 9oz) and the thrid was 35+3 (weighing 8lbs 6oz!). All were spontaneous natural deliveries, and healthy weights, so I considered myself lucky! I wasn't particularly itchy, hence not having the test until no. 3, but happened to mention slightly itchy palms at 34 weeks, and being at QCH they suggested a test, and it turned out my bile acids were "off the scale"...

Hi - ok you do have to actively vote - I did it on the PC as it didn't work from my iPhone. Once you are logged on - go to 'Blog' on the tool bar and that takes you to the cause of the month article where you can vote

Jenny (founder of OC Support) is posting this on FB:

"if you think you have voted for OC Support UK it is quite possible that you didn't as we have 242 registered but only 178 votes. This is happening to TARO who are ahead of us at the moment. For some reason if registering for the first time, you still need to go back to the blog on easyfundraising and log in again. I know if it's a pain but please do check..."
