Do Hemorroids go away after birth

I am 30 weeks and got the joy of Hemorroids/Piles at 27 weeks. I have had them twice before. Since the last time I have ensured I have a high fibre diet, eat fruit and veg, drink lotsof water, etc. During my pregnancy I have had no trouble in the bathroom area! And yet I still got them. However, instead of disappearing after a week, they are still with me! Ahhhhh!!

The doctor and midwide have told it will stay till after birth. Although not painful now, it is still irritating to have this. I then got told that they may take a few months after birth to go OR not go at all!! Is this true! Surely I can't have them forever!!!!

I had them with each of my pregnancies and with my third they were much worse. They went a few weeks after birth. But I used various over the counter creams which were great but the last time they wouldn't help (mine got quite painful and vvvv uncomfortable), I made (ie I cried) my GP prescribe some ointment for me, the relief was bliss and I didn't have to show her them Grin

I got them really bad after giving birth to ds (now 2.7yrs) they were extremely painful and lasted 6 MONTHS!!! [SHOCK]
I am 26+4 with DC2 and they have come back but not very bad at the moment, I am trying to eat more fruit and fibre and drink more water but I am really scared that its going to get much worse after giving birth.
But I think mine was an extreme case, it probably sounds funny but after going to the loo I couldnt sit down for the rest of the day as it was too painful! I had to try breastfeeding standing up....it was just awfull! the pain lasted all day after i had been to the loo, not just whilst i was going (sorry if tmi).

Oh I had been to GP 4 to 5 times in the 6 months and only after the last time did they give me anusol cream which helped a little! all the other times they just gave me fybogel to drink and told me to drink more water!
what ointment did you get wigglesrock ???

I'm a bit different to other posters - I didn't have them at all during pregnancy with my daughter, and then they developed after her birth - I think they developed because I tore. With this pregnancy I have days where I have them, and days where I don't - I'm thinking they'll get worse as the weeks go on! I hope yours disappear after birth!

GP gave me Uniroid, I used Anusol - helped a bit, the pharmacist in Boots told me Germoloid (sp!!) was better and helped a bit more, but the Uniroid was hands down the best. My midwife told me that although obviously fibre etc will help, its mainly down to the position of baby. I never had any constipation or anything in pregnancy, just unlucky. I agree the pain after going to the toilet was worse. I would always badger GP for better pain relief, a friend of mine had very bad anal fissures (pregnancy such a delight), and she would rather have had a 16lb baby than deal with that kind of pain.

I never had them in pregnancy, but did randomly get them a few months ago - GP had to have a look and everything Blush. I found germaloids did help soothe them, but wasn't getting rid of them. In the end I stopped using a very well known brand's moist toilet roll - I had used this for years, but used to use a "sensitive" one, which my supermarket stopped stocking, and had changed to a "regular" variety a short time before. Within a day or two, the piles were getting better, within a week or two they were gone. So if anyone is using a similar product, that might be something you could try....
