I have been sick all week and doc said i had UTI and was put on antibiotics went back to doc yesterday and she said i still had infection so put me on different antibiothics, i have been feeling and sometimes actually getting sick, pains in belly at times and aching in arms and legs and pain in back at times.

i dont know if i should call the hospital and if i do who do i actually call there?? is it the delievery suite or who?? i have lots of movement and doc checked heartbeat so not to worried on that score but dont want to get much worse and pass anything to baby. i have appt with hospital on tuesday so am thinking will just wait til then to say anything, feel a bit lost really as never asked on any visits who i should contact if in an emergency or with questions.

any advise much appreciated. oh i am just 35 weeks and going to watford general if that helps. thanks

triage.
ask to be put through to maternity triage.

that's what my midwfie told meto do.

Do you have a community midwife number you can call? I have a sheet in my maternity notes that details who to call & when - I'm not in your area, but I would have thought you should be able to call your community midwifery team at any time. Failing that, as you're almost full term, call your labour ward and speak to a midwife there...
Hope you feel better soon! x

Have they checked your bp?

PinkFondantFancy · 16/07/2011 18:42

Verona I'm booked at Watford. On the front page of your notes are a list of phone numbers. At the weekend or evenings phone the delivery suite-they've got a triage there. At other times call the day assessment unit. The people that answer either phone are really really helpful.

VeronaH · 16/07/2011 19:06

thanks do much Pinkfondan, i rang the delivery suite ages ago about something else and they werent very helpful so was a bit afraid to call them again. can i ask have you had a baby in watford before if so was it a good experience?

Jolene, doc checke dmy bp yesterday and it was fine, i know it sounds like i have some symptoms of pre eclampsia but think its just a bad kidney infection, hope it clears soon, sick if feeling sick and also have a toodler to look after!!

I would have said your out of hours GP service unless you have specific concerns with the pregnancy. Certainly delivery suite at my unit would direct you to GP in this situation.

PinkFondantFancy · 17/07/2011 07:43

Verona maybe it just depends on who answers the phone on the day then I guess, and I just got lucky. This is my first baby and in fact I've just transferred my booking to Stevenage-at the moment I live about as far from Watford as I do Stevenage, but I'm hoping to move house and if I do Stevenage is closer.

How are you this morning op....does you hospital have an anti natal ward separate from the labour ward? It should say in your notes and give a number.

I called the anti natal ward in my area for something similar, was called in and given anti biotics via IV, not fun but I started feeling better very fast. If its uti/kidney related I wouldn't wait until Tue if you are feeling worse.
