Have 2 DS and both times my fave girl's name was Lucy. This was common knowledge and then...my SIL named her girl Lucy..grrrrrrrrrr.....
So have half decided on Sarah..any suggestions for a middle name with Surname 3 sylables ( spelling!!) Do like Sophie too....oh! it's hard..hormones going mad at 34 weeks preg.

3 syllables - Katharine/Katherine/Catherine?!
Isabelle/Isobel
Emily
Francesca
Elizabeth (ok, 4!)

Gobbledigook · 27/11/2005 18:19

Hmm, Katharine is 2 or 3 depending on how you say it!

hunkermunker · 27/11/2005 18:22

Do you want the middle name to have three syllables or has your surname got three syllables, or both?

edam · 27/11/2005 18:23

If your surname is three syllables I'd keep the middle name to one or two. That's what we did (although we did lumber ds with two middle names for family reasons). You could go for something very unusual with Sarah as a very-recognisable first name.

winniewoo · 27/11/2005 18:23

oops..what a meant was surname 3 syb so perhaps a shorter middle name...sorry.. What about Louise..does that remind you of the very traditional clothing company??!!

I would imagine Sarah Louise is a very popular combination and reminds me of the girl in Coro!

Louise is a very popular middle name I think - especially from the 70s!

Gobbledigook · 27/11/2005 18:25

Haha - snap Trefusis!

hunkermunker · 27/11/2005 18:25

Louise and Jane both v common middle names for Sarah first names. But both very nice too!

winniewoo · 27/11/2005 18:26

edam..any suggestions on ususual middle names to go with Sarah?? Thanks.. Our surname is very different which is why I am prob going for plainer names...useless at this..really...Got the boys name sorted!!

northerner · 27/11/2005 18:27

Sarah May
Sarah Rose
Sarah Anne
Prefer Sara to Sarah, not sure why........

bossykate · 27/11/2005 18:27

you know what, you can still go for lucy if you want - why not?

winniewoo · 27/11/2005 18:29

Righto...good thinking girls..not a corrie girl at all so thanks for pointing that out!

OP posts:
winniewoo · 27/11/2005 18:32

You know Bossykate..I did think about it as the girls would have different surnames and they do live abroad but it's my Mum...she said " difficult having two Lucy's as granddaughters" ( she said nicely) and also mentioned what people would say naming a girl after my brother's daughter who is only 6 months. Some days I think why should I worry what people think and who cares..but then other days I do care..what a sap!
Prob thinking safer to avoid...

Could you not have Lucy as a middle name?

Tamba · 27/11/2005 18:36

Sarah is a beautiful name

Sarah Marie
Sarah Elizabeth
Sarah Joanne
Sarah Jane
Sarah Louise
Sarah Franchesca

winniewoo · 27/11/2005 18:46

To be honest, Lucy sounds good with surname..possibly becasue it ends in a y but can't find another girl's name that sounds just as nice...fussy..wussy... do like all the Sarah suggestions...

Louise goes with near enough anything as a middle name,so would be a good choice. It's also my middle name too.

DD's middle name is Olivia, which I still really like. We also had India on our list, only changed to Olivia as she was born.
