Had breakfast and STILL hungry!

What do you have for breakfast?
I never had any before I got pregnant, then when I found out I was pregnant I had two slices of toast and possibly a banana every morning until 22 weeks. Now I'm 25+5 and have been having Weetabix and cold milk for breakfast followed by a banana, BUT not long after I've had it (an hour and a half)I'm starving hungry again!
Can't stop thinking of food right now.
Is this normal? I'd be grateful for any advice! Smile

I would highly suggest eating eggs, some sort of meat and beans for breakfast in the morning...since I started this I've really not been hungry...and strangely enough (one might think...tho there has been some research on this recently) I've not gained weight... any day I go back to cereal/fruit I end up eating 2 breakfasts again....

basically protein makes you feel full longer because it takes more to break it down. The 'quick carbs' in cereals and most grains mean your insulin levels spike, when they drop again after digestion you feel hungry again... thus you might want to look into eating low GI foods and foods which do not encourage the insulin release for your first meal of the day.

Aldi's miles away (that tea advert makes me snort, we all chorus 'it's ginny' when it's on) and cinnamon on cereal will not convince me. It's like chocolate on cereal. Plain wrong.

Protein doesn't do it for me where hunger's concerned.

Poached eggs and beans all on toast sounds good to me! Not forgetting some bacon or ham on the side! Yummy!

also interestingly enough cinnamon is one of the 'sugar' replacements they suggest as it reacts with body chemistry to slow down the insulin 'reaction' thus putting a dash of cinnamon on your cereal or in your cup of coffee (decaf of course) Wink will help with the desire for sugar, and slow down the cause effect of insulin release :)

science is so cool :)

largeginandtonic · 15/07/2011 10:17

Make a special trip.

I don't want protein either. Well maybe a bacon sandwich. Now.

largeginandtonic · 15/07/2011 10:18

SEE Bebemoo even has SCIENCE to back up the cinnamon chips.

Now off all you pregnant hungry women go. Aldi is calling.

ShowOfHands · 15/07/2011 10:22

I have no problem with cinnamon. On rice pudding. Or in cookies. But on your bloody breakfast? Pregnancy makes you weird. Have some gingerbread and desist you loon.

superjobeespecs · 15/07/2011 10:23

i have an aldi 15 mins walk away.. Grin have to agree with the protien pushers here i craved scrambled eggs on toast/floury rolls in my first 14 weeks and noticed i wasnt so overly hungry and felt fuller for longer cant bide chicken just now baby hates it tho with DD i couldnt get enough :(

I bet you eat gingerbread for breakfast.

Eat the farcking cereal for tea then. Just eat it.

I am different with all the pregnancies. Is very odd.

Renaissance227 · 15/07/2011 10:27

I'm being naughty and having a Twix now because the stupid shop at work only had crisps, cupcakes, twix, or mars bars! Blush
I can't help it, I'm hungry!

I eat gingerbread for my health actually. It has lots of sugar iron in it. And if I want to eat it at 2am, bent over the fridge like an addict, then I will and you can feck orf.

Grin And er excuse me but will you please reply to my text or I'll tell MN all of your dirty secrets.

Renaissance227 · 15/07/2011 10:52

I have precisely 74 separate reasons for eating gingerbread on a daily basis. Some people live by religion, others by schedule. Me? It's all about the gingerbread.

Renaissance227 · 15/07/2011 11:01

Grin I like your style ShowOfHands

I'm eating my lunch at 11.30 - two huge bacon and egg rolls. In fact, I think I did well to hold out this long; I've been fantasising about them since about 9am.

Gauchitaconpanza · 15/07/2011 11:39

Another one having lunch early, with DD before taking her to nursery. Then I have a "second" lunch at around 2 Blush

Renaissance227 · 15/07/2011 11:45

That sounds good to me but I've nowhere to get a bacon and egg roll from! Only have one sandwich and more fruit for lunch.
I'm definitely going to have to prepare better!
