Clots and bleeding

:( im 6 weeks pregnant and been bleedin for 10 days. Been to a&e twice and had an emergency scan yesterday n was told every time everythings ok, seen babys heartbeat n havent really had any other problems until today.... Had belly ache n lost a clot the size of my palm nuthin solid , i just want peoples opinions n experiences to see if its possible to loose so much blood n now clots n still carry a baby? ?????? Personally I think you should go back if you're now having clots. Bleeding in pregnancy needs to be checked every time it occurs.

I bled on and off all the way through with DS and he's now nearly two so bleeding isn't always bad news and it is very common.

Fingers crossed everything is okay but please do get checked over, for your peace of mind if nothing else.

It is common, but if you have had a large clot I would definitely go back to your GP tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you x

The thing is though it aggravates me going to a&e for them to check my blood pressure and wee n then book my a scan thats a whole week away surely they can do things quicker , but twice iv bern a&e twice ive been sent home, had a scan last week but baby was too small so had to come bk n went yesterday n was told that baby is fine is it really possible to loose a baby the next day ? And is it possible to loose clots and still have a baby, cant stop worryin about it? Xxxx

I went to my GP when I was bleeding at six weeks during my last pregnancy and he booked me in for a scan at our local hospital the same day. Insist on it (or beg for it) at the doctors - tell them the size of your clot and say how worried you are. They can't leave you a week, it's inhumane...! I don't know where you are, but I'm not in a particularly rich area and they still had time to book me in that day. I hope its a good outcome. x

I'm sorry you're going through this, and agree you should go back and ask to be seen again. I had heavy bleeding and cramps at around 7 weeks (over 2 weeks) and passed two clots the size of my palm so I know how scary it can be, but am now 32+3 and all ok so far. I really hope it works out for you x

How close is your nearest Early Pregnancy Unit?

I'd give them a call and ask for advice - even if you can't get in in person they'll be able to advise you on what care you need as ideal and what you need as a bare minimum. Or you might be lucky and be able to get to one that offers a drop-in clinic/self referral service. Either way, they're the experts in problems in early pregnancy and will almost certainly have a much better answer than your GP or A&E and will be able to tell you what to say to other HCP's to make sure you get suitable care.

Fingers crossed you can get some support and everything works out OK for you.

Please go and get checked, I know it's a ball ache but they also need to check your blood levels in case you are getting anaemic. There is no excuse for them to leave you without a scan for a week though

Went docs this mornin theyv booked me in for yet another scan on monday so its all about waitin again. :(

From my experience, I'd say you're going to be fine but I'd invest in a private scan as the Drs are much much better.
I had bleeding several times with DD and NHS were not very reassuring. They would say that it all looked ok but I could walk out the hospital and miscarry.
I went private and spoke to a consultant specialist in foetal medicine and he it explained it as this..... If you're bleeding and you get scanned and baby is fine, then the bleeding is not a miscarriage or the start of one. Baby always dies before any bleeding. So if it was a miscarriage and you went for a scan, the baby would have died some weeks before you bleed. It takes the body some time to catch up, hence there is a delay in baby dying and body expelling it. He said you would never ever get bleeding and an alive baby on scan that was a miscarriage.... Hope that makes sense and reassures you.

I'm really sorry to hear this, the waiting is just horrible.

queencee I am very surprised to read what the consultant said to you, as when I MC'd I bled for a whole week with clots then went for a scan to "check it was all gone" and a heartbeat was found. Literally an hour later I had a complete miscarriage feotus in sac with placenta attached. My body had spent a week rejecting a feotus that hadn't died. This differs to what the consultant told you. I had told myself that it was nature's way and the baby wasn't viable and am now very confused!!

Well to update still bleedin this now makes it about 14 days but no more clots thankfully , fingers crossed for monday thanks alot everyone for ur support n advice x

Just to update went for scan baby is absolutly fine growin perfect theyv taken sum swabs to find out y im still bleedin x
