I had it bad with DD (didn't keep any fluids down for 36 hours), she's now 4yo, seems ok for it!

Just keep taking frequent (every 5 min) small sips of water; you will absorb some of the water thru your mouth even if you sick it back up from your tum.

Enid · 26/11/2005 19:04

no no better

just puked up the glass of water I was sipping dring rugby

she probably wont be there on sunday I will wait till monday and ring then

I was ill for two days and nights when I was preg and my midwife said that the baby would have just taken everything it needed from my stores so that it was doubly important to eat well and some high energy foods when I was up to it for MY benefit. Hope you are feeling better soon. And agree call your midwife. Not being able to keep water down too is a bit more of a concern.

jane313 · 26/11/2005 19:06

I had one at about 9 weeks. I got it tested (fun!) they lost the sample (more fun) and it was cleared for anything scary like salmonella. Me and baby were fine

off to sofa now pre-bed

Aw, Enid! I've had LOADS of tummy bugs this pregnancy.

Have you tried some ginger ale?

If you're not well tomorrow it's best to phone up your midwife or NHS24.

I had one at 13 weeks that had me retching blood. I needed to go in and have a drip and they gave me a very painful injection which did stop the vomitting, however.

jabberwocky · 26/11/2005 19:21

Had an awful bug at about 13 weeks. didn't know if I was coming or going, if you know what I mean . I just tried to stay hydrated - lots and lots of gatorade. Luckily it was just a 24 hour thing.

zippimistletoes · 26/11/2005 19:32

I had food poisoning at about 36-37 weeks, baby was fine (2 weeks late in fact) but I was given an injection in the thigh to stop me throwing up, which was very effective (so effective that it was 20 years and 6 months before i was sick again!)

morningpaper · 26/11/2005 19:57

VIOLENTLY ill at 10.5 weeks, baby seems fine so far!!! Is currently screaming downstairs.

expatinscotland · 26/11/2005 20:02

I got that injection, too, zippi. It hurt but it was very effective!

We don't have Gatorade here, jabber. Closest we have is something called Lucozade.

Just be sure to dilute it w/cool boiled water if you are using Lucozade to rehydrate.

jabberwocky · 27/11/2005 05:06

Oh, that's interesting expat. I actually got sick while in Vienna and they had it there. I wonder what's up with that? Maybe some weird trade thing?

MrsBubsDingDongVereLyonhigh · 27/11/2005 08:10

I had bad food poisoning when i was about 12 weeks pg with dd2, had to have doctor out a couple of times, but dd2 is 4 now and she is fine.

I actually went vegetarian afterwards as I was so worried about getting it again.

Enid · 27/11/2005 12:40

ta all

would actually kill for some flat coke today

feeling much better than yesterday and have managed to hold down water and a nectarine. Think I have pulled a muscle in my tummy from retching and it BLOODY HURTS

dh has taken dds off to grandmas with strict instructions for me to stay in bed and not 'go on bloody mumsnet' so I'm off.
