Any pregnant ladies in Ireland (Republic)? Do you have a blood test taken to determine your blood type?

Just wondering as my sis in law is now 29 weeks and has only just discovered she is Rhesus Neg... surely they should have found that out sooner? Over here (England) they took my bloods at 9 weeks ish and tested for all sorts.

Thanks

Sounds a bit odd. What hospital is she attending?

I had blood tests on both pregnancies at around 12 weeks.

Am attending Holles St. btw.

I thought it was odd too - she is attending Portlaoise hospital.

Thanks for the response though, I think my brother is pretty unhappy about it really. And I don't blame him.

I can't blame him either. If you post on roller coaster.ie you might get responses from other Portlaoise mothers as to whether they do them as standard. I would be staggered if they didn't but could be wrong.

Will do Melanie - thanks :)
