Was I right to tell SIL to go to hospital?

She is 5 weeks pg. She has lower stomach pain at the moment (she said feels a bit like she needs to wee but she doesn't) and said yesterday she had pain down one side and going into her back. I was concerned it her pg might be ectopic. Am I over-reacting? She was v. upset and I feel terrible Sad

You did the right thing, she should be checked out, fingers crossed all is ok!

sounds more like a bladder infection to me, hospital will be able to give her anti - biotics for it and they can also check everything else is ok for her, she did need to see a doc by the sounds of it. don't feel bad, shows you care :)

Thanks. Hopefully it is just a bladder infection (if you should be wishing that sort of thing on anyone Confused).

bladder infections can be hideous you don't know whether you want to pee or not, low stomach ache, pain in the kidneys can also give fever like symptoms. fingers crossed she's ok, let us know how she gets on :)

You did exactly the right thing, and the dr/hospital will tell her the same thing too. Of course she was upset because everyone wants to hear "oh it'll be fine" even when there's no basis for thinking that. Far better for her to be upset and checked out (and treated as necessary) than to ignore it and hope it goes away with more tragic consequences. Try not to worry Smile
