6lb baby at 32 weeks!!!

I had a growth scan yesterday which said my baby was 6lb. With 8 weeks to go im panicking!, my DS was 9lb5 and DD was 10lb3.
When my DH was born he weighed in at 16lbs!!! [hshock] i think this baby is going to be a monster [hconfused].
I know im going to be having a csection due to 2 previously but what are the other possible risks in having a mahoooosive baby

Growth scans are always to be taken with a pinch of salt. Obv, you're not going to end up with a tiddler - I think that's a given - but I wouldn't get unduly concerned.

At 36wks, my ds was estimated to be 7.5lb. When he was born 2 wks later he was 7lb. Which is quite a large margin of error.

I think generally speaking that large babies can be an indicator of GDD but if your HCPs are unconcerned then I'd assume it's down to genetics. After all, your dh sounds like he was born ready to start school! Is he really tall?

Teeny was born at 33 weeks, weighing 6lb 13oz. I had Gestational Diabetes. They had told me to expect an 11lb baby..... Good luck!

No i don't have diabetes and DH is 6"7 which is most likely the reason why im most likely to have a big one

Exactly - a fella that big is not likely to produce little babies is he?!

I wouldn't worry then. GD is what always springs to mind with large babies but you obv just make them big.

At 32 weeks I was told 6lbs10 from a scan give or take a pound

DS was born at 42 weeks exactly and weigfhed 8lbs1 1/2ozs. I actually thought the MW was joking!!

Those last 10 weeks I was very concerned I was going to give birth to a toddler!!!

Your other DC were big but you survived. Remember this little one gets half it's genes from you too Hopes OP was a 5lber at birth

DS was 40+4 and 8lb4. I was also told I was expecting a big baby at 32 weeks. My DH is 6ft6 so it was expected!

The head measurement was what freaked me out though (and that was accurate!). But you don't need to worry about that.

I was told dd would be 8-9lbs - she was born at 39 weeks and was 6lb 14oz. Growth scans aren't that accurate.

I was told to expect 8-9lb with my last baby, he was born at 10lb 10oz!
A bit of a shock after two 7lbers.
If I were you Id brace myself for a biggun (and be secretly pleased its a c section)

Mine was estimated at 6lbs at the 36 week scan and my consultant seemed to think she'd be on the 'larger side of normal/average'. I went 'over' by 12 days and DD2 was 7lb 2oz so I'd say the scans were pretty inaccurate in my case.

When my DH was born he weighed in at 16lbs!!!

Crikey; is that right?! I thought the heaviest baby boy was 15 lb something-somewhere in Cumbria, I think?! We looke it up for a school project!

If that's on his notes-he should ring the Guinness book of records!

I was told at around 34 weeks to expect a 10+ plus baby. Less than five weeks later I gave birth to 11.6lb ds!

Growth scans can be a bit out. I had a growth scan at 36 weeks, and they said DS2 was 8lb. Went into labour spontaneously 5 hours later, and he was born 14 hours after scan weighing 7.4lb.

My dd actually arrived at 32 weeks and was 6lbs 3oz. On her due date she was 10lbs. Not sure it that helps but you having a c-section thankfully!
