Does baby's behaviour 'inside' reflect its behaviour 'outside'?

My baby never seems to stop moving - which don't get me wrong is great - but it goes on at all hours both through the day and at night. The sonographer described it as 'very active'.

When it is finally released from custody will I have a baby that never sleeps?

When my youngest was first born I did notice he was awake at the times he'd been most active when I was pregnant but this changed after a few weeks, he was also pretty active in his sleep at first, moving around and sometimes waking himself up but after a month or so he started sleeping more soundly

Oh I hope not, I don't get any sleep and s/he is still cooking!

lol so my baby is going to be a menace... likes to boogie to the early hours then spends the days dancing too.

Well, DD1 and 2 have been the same on the outside as they were on the inside.

DD1 slept l day, started bouncing the second I lay down, then never slept at night as a newborn, was a generally hyper not needing much sleep baby.

DD2 was less wiggly in general, slept at night and bounced when I was moving. Slept through the night at 10 days old, is still very chilled.

DC3 (16 weeks pregnant) bit early to tell yet, but feeling the most movement morning and evening.

When DD was in utero I was told she was very very active. And sure enough she never stopped moving as a baby, she was always kicking and waving her arms around. Couldnt sit still - we actually worried about it at the time thinking she might have some neurological problem (which of course she didn't - first time parent worry syndrome)!

However she's always been a brilliant sleeper thankfully. Probably because used up so much energy during the day. I dont think an active baby = poor sleeper at night. However she stopped having daytime naps at about 1.5 years old which was a bit of a pain!

Im 36+3 and baby has been very active since the beginning, with a lot of hiccups; dp gets terrible heartburn/hiccups and so we think baby has taken after its father in that respect, which although a shame is also quite delightful to ponder upon :)

my ds always woke at 2.45am in the womb - still does at 3.5 years!!!

Both of mine were the sane inside as outside.

DS1 kicked me hard in the ribs all the time. Now he's a strapping 7 year old who "bounces" when he's excited.

DS2 stretched and tickled. He's a gentle little boy, with great fine motor skills.

Oooh, that's good to hear, as my first bump sleeps through the night!

IME not a lot of correlation. I hope it continues with dc4. It likes to be awake and very very active between 8-11pm. Every night!

I like getting my evenings back asap so if it continues that on the outside then it'll have to learn sharpish to stop!

DD is 7wo and was a right little wriggler onthe inside. She's never still on the outside to be honest but you'll be pleased to hear that she still sleeps rather well, if not wriggly. I'd lay her on the bed next to me this morning whilst I listened to the radio for an hour and she's turned nigh on 180 degree in her sleep. So rest assured that even if your babbie never stops moving, they can do a lot of it in their sleep :)

DS was so lazy inside. I didn't feel him until 23 weeks and was monitored 5 or 6 times for reduced movement when I was pregnant. On the outside, however, he is a little hurricane! He has always been very active, crawling at 5 months, walking at 11 months and never stops, people comment on it every day. He has always been a very good sleeper though, at 23 months he sleeps 7pm-7am and still has 2-3hrs at lunchtime. I shall be interested to see what DC2 will be like.

DS was "very active". He's a mad thing now, never sits still, but has always slept well.
