I'm pregnant, oh god

My DS is only 7 months and have taken 5 pregnancy tests, all are positive. He has just started sleeping through the night and I've just started to feel like my life is normal again.

And now I'm pregnant

I got pregnant with ds1 when dd was 10 months old and now they are older they play so nicely together. It's tough for a couple of years but if you only wanted two it gets it out of the way ifswim? I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine once you have calmed down.

Don't know what to say. It will be hard but I know someone with a simlar age gap. Hope someone comes along with better advice soon.

hey hun, i don't really have much advice either, just wanted to say that i know a few people who have a very similar age gap, and they said it was actually better as the LOs played together better, but also as themselves as parents had not "forgot" how hard the work was... one girl i know has a 4 ad 5 year old, and a 1 year old, and said it was harder with the 1 year old as she had to start all over again, just after the other two were in school/nursery.. not sure if i have explained myself very well or not

small age gaps are amazing, hard for a little while, but once the baby is able to play with the older one, life gets so much easier, they will keep each other entertained, and you will be able to get on with things whilst they are occupied. also, i found sibling jealousy is less difficult with a small age gap

My first two dc are 15 months apart - the first few months are tough, just an endless stream of nappies! When the youngest starts sitting up/moving things change drastically! All that effort you expend at the moment entertaining your first won't be needed next time round as big bro is far more interesting! My eldest adored his little sister and they have always played well together. In fact, I'm not often allowed to play their games as they are so close that they say I'm interfering!

All this is just aswell really as I'm 8 weeks preg with dc4 and ds2 is only just 8 months!

I'm going against the grain here. Lots of stories about how it works out, that's great for those other posters.

Just wanted to say, that you don't have to have it, if you feel you can't cope.

To be honest the first six years of having children are kinda done for unless you space them when one starts school etc. Nobody gets that much sleep and there's always one poorly or scratchy or won't walk or won't get in the car seat or won't eat or won't stop crying or won't stop whacking the dog. Just do the best you can and have faith in yourself. It will be good enough

Hello Jubblicious! This is my first ever post on MN ... My DD1 is 25 weeks old and I discovered on Monday that I'm pregnant again. We are 'older' parents and although a bit shocked, I think it'll be nice for DD to have a sibling :). Several friends have children with an age gap of as little as 12 months and they all comment on how great the kids get along. Probably not helping you at the moment but just wanted to share this with you. Keep your chin up.

Thanks sawasdee. I just thought we would wait a little while, it is unplanned so I'm just in shock at the moment.

DH is being very positive about it so I'm hoping it will rub off on me!!

My boss got pregnant when her DS was 3 months, they share a birthday one year apart!! Mad couple of years but now she wouldn't change a thing. Congrats & good luck x
