Bloody show at 33 weeks - baby on the way??? Worried

Intense stitch like pain down one side, bloody mucus discharge for 2 days, then dizziness and elevated blood pressure sent me off the the midwife yesterday.

She sent me off to the hospital - stayed in last night for observation, not dilated, blood pressure normal again, baby fine but still having bloody show. Also been getting strong (makes me wince, lasts quite a while) braxton-hicks for couple of weeks. Now back home and getting a bit anxious about what this all means Confused.

DD1 38 weeks on the dot, waters broke first then contractions was 1-2cm dilated without realising it.

OK how likely is it that I am going to have baby in the next few days/week/fortnight?

Has anyone else had an early show and had baby 37+ weeks i.e. not premature?

If you're 33 weeks they might need to give you steroids to mature baby's lungs just in case you do go into labour so yes I agree wit& above...go back to hospital.ask to see Dr. Good luck. Never know you might still be on here at 41 weeks starting up a new thread but best to get things checked. X

With both mine I had a show exactly a week before labour started. It definitely needs close monitoring at your stage. DS was born at just 35 weeks by my dates and didn't need incubating or anything, but I guess you could ask about the steroids just to be on safe side? If your first came at 38 weeks it's likely that your natural gestation time is on the short side anyway anyway.......

I would call labour ward again and get more details, but I had a medium sized bleed at 32w and had contractions - after steroids and drugs to slow things to allow steroids to work, everything settled and dd was born 2 days off 40w.

Don't get too worried but I would want more reassurance from mw. Take care x

Thank you all for your thoughtful replies.

I am going to pack a hospital bag and keep in car in case anything happens, DH is at home this week which is good, there is an urgent midwife drop in clinic in town so I can ask someone for details. Will also take it easy, lots of feet up and no spring cleaning the house!

Now 33+4 so in a few days will be 34 weeks and past the boundary for getting steroids if I go into labour, got consultant appointment and growth scan for next Tuesday. Did see a consultant yesterday and I'm under the care of the high risk unit at local hospital anyway (due to unrelated medical condition).

Forewarned is forearmed and all that...

I wouldn't worry i lost part of my show months ago then had another 2 weeks ago and still no baby (i'm 39 weeks now) The doctors were convinced i was going to be early (i went into labour with my ds at 36 weeks) but i'm starting to have doubts lol an induction may be on the cards
