White cells?

I'm 24+2 and have just seen the midwife. Apparently my utrine sample contained white cells, which she said can sometimes be discharge contaminating the sample but she has to send it away to check all is ok.
Has anyone had this? On Google I have come across lots of sites saying that white cells can be a sign of an infection. Is it something to worry about?

Me I had this when I had a UTI.

If it is a UTI and caught early and treated you should be fine I have had them in all my pregnancies and ended up with a few in the last one.

I did get ne in this one a few weeks ago that put me in hospital because I ignored symptoms and it was too late to treat orally by the time I did something about it I was very poorly and in hospital for quite a while having treatment.

If you feel unwell at all then go and see your GP asap.

I had that, turned out to be a mild UTI for which I had no other symptoms. They gave me a course of anti biotics and my samples have all come back clear since. The only adverse effect was that my wee turned bright green!

Bright green?! Smile

Thank you ladies. I've got no symptoms that I know of but I don't know what I should be looking out for.

Will make sure I chase up the results of the sample just to makes sure.

The symptoms I ignored by putting down to general pregnancy was frequent urinating and a pain in my lower right side.
I then got headache, shivvers, sweats, vomitting and a very high temp.

Hopefully your results will be in at the end of the week.

Well I've been urinating a lot more than normal but I put that down to drinking more in this hot weather. I've also had headaches but again I assume that's just the weather.
Will call them if I haven't heard by next week.
Thanks nunnie

ive had this problem since i found out i was expecting- how ever the medical experts are a little confused as there is no growths which means no infection. any one came across this before? im 13 weeks this friday

owlbooty · 11/07/2011 12:17

I had exactly this (twice) and there was nothing wrong when the samples came back from the lab. The doc told me that in small amounts, it usually indicated contaminated sample or normal discharge - in larger amounts it can signal an infection which will show up when they get the sample back.

Either way I can speak from experience when I say 'do not stress about this' unless you start feeling grotty in which case tell someone :)

I have had this SIX times so far and I'm only 16 weeks. I get UTI symptoms (i.e. stinging when peeing) but the samples come back every time as normal. I've taken two lots of antibiotics so far just in case but now been told that there's nothing they can do and they don't want to give me any more antibiotics when there's no sign of infection. Got another one this morning, is so painful.
